William T. Butterfield

William Thomas Butterfield, “Bill,” age 70, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Racine, November 6, 1941, son of the late Richard and Henrietta (Nee: Bonkowski) Butterfield.

Bill graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1959.” He served in the National Guard from 1959 – 1960. On July 1, 1960, in Racine he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Susan K. Lawrence. That same year Bill joined the firm of Al J. Seitz Associates and found his calling as a draftsman. Upon completing his education as an architect, he became a partner with Chuck Seitz for many years. Following Chuck’s retirement, the business was renamed Butterfield-Rudy and Seitz. Bill loved architecture and was proud of the many fine buildings he created. He was respected by all for the detailed drawings he made. He loved collecting Maxfield Parrish Art, traveling and was an avid fisherman. Above all, Bill was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He will be deeply missed.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Sue; children, Jeffrey Butterfield (Lilly Ramirez), Kelly (Jim) Wegner, Tracy Butterfield; grandchildren, Ryan Ventura, Dino Ventura, Drew Butterfield, Emily Egresi, Tiffany Butterfield; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marie “Ellie” Janczak, David Lawrence, Pat Lesniewski, Fred (Sheila) Lawrence, Tim Lawrence, Patrick (Rebecca) Lawrence, Beverly Lawrence; nieces, nephew, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Fritzie Lawrence; a brother-in-law, John “Jack” Lawrence; and a sister-in-law, Linda Abbott.

Per Bill’s wish, private services will be held.
