Frances A. (Zalesak) Zatko

Frances A. Zatko, age 100, passed away Monday, August 27, 2012, in Racine, WI. Frances was born in Lhotka, Czech Republic, on January 19, 1912, daughter of the late Matt and Frances (Nee: Sisak) Zalesak. She came to America with her family when she was 13 years old. On June 30, 1934, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Joseph A. Zatko, who preceded her in death on June 11, 1991.

Frances was a longtime member of St. John Nepomuk Church and highly valued her Catholic faith and upbringing. She was skilled at crocheting, making many beautiful afghans for family and friends and was, also, well known for her kolache and chocolate chip cookie baking talents. She was known to enjoy a good game of Schafskopf or Bunco, too. Above all, she was devoted to her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary Ann (Ron) Theama, and Ellen (John) LaBrasca, all of Racine; grandchildren, Jeanne (Jon) Kirchner, Julie Worman, of Las Vegas, NV, Jim (Karen) Theama of Cedarburg, JoAnn (Pat) Ryan, Jeff (Lisa) Theama, Jerry Theama, all of Racine, Cathy (Mike) Stern of Appleton, Susie (Tom) Hendricks of River Hills; great-grandchildren, Alex, Colin, Zach, Lucy, Nathan, Mary, Joshua, Olivia, Anita, Madalyn, Nick, Drew, Gabrielle, Francesca and Noah; brother-in-law, Cal Kousek of Racine; several nieces and nephews and other relatives. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Ann, Agnes, Mary Chvilicek, Mitzi Kousek; brothers, Frank and Charles Zalesak; brother-in-law, Joe Chvilicek; sister-in-law, Verna Zalesak; and great-granddaughter, Hannah Ryan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, August 31, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Green at English Street. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m.
