Lucille A. (Gross) Soens

Lucille A. Soens, age 96, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Lakeshore Manor.  Lucille was born in Racine on September 6, 1915, daughter of the late John and Barbara (Nee:  Sipple) Gross.

On October 9, 1937, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Sylvester “Cy” Soens, who preceded her in death on January 29, 2001.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and was a former member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church.  Lucille volunteered at St. Mary’s Auxiliary for eighteen years.   She enjoyed bowling, reading and embroidery.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her daughters, Barb (James) Cramer, Kathleen (Robert) Sadlon, Lynn Mullis, all of Racine; her grandchildren, Susan (Ralph) Williams of Greendale, Ronald (Pam) Cramer of Madison, Melissa Sadlon of Kenosha; her great-grandchildren, Madison, Molly and Mari Williams, Samuel and Lara Cramer; sister, Margaret Sustachek of Racine; sister-in-law, Dorothy Soens of Milwaukee; brothers-in-law, Edward Reagan of Kenosha; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Marty Mullis; and nine siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, August 31, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., with Rev. Steve Varghese officiating.  Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Friday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m.   Memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to St. Catherine’s High School have been suggested.
