Hilda W. Woodruff

Hilda W. Woodruff, age 93, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Elizabeth Residence. She was born in Naples, NY, on October 31, 1918, daughter of the late William and Gertrud (Nee: Kirchner) Widmer.

Hilda was raised in Naples and graduated from Skidmore College.  On November 23, 1940, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” W. Woodruff and they moved to Dearborn, MI.  Hilda raised her family in Dearborn where she was an active volunteer with the PTA and the Michigan Diabetes Assn.  She also had worked for many years at the Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum.  Hilda was a very creative person and also loved music, gardening and history.  In 1993 she and Bob moved to Racine to be closer to family.  In 2003 Bob passed away.  Hilda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary W. Josten of Racine; grandchildren, Mark (Emily Kiley) Josten, Theodore (Erika) Josten, Alicia (Michael) Zapata; great-grandchildren, Alex, Seth, Jacob and Olivia; other relatives and friends.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert W. Woodruff II; and her son-in-law, Roy J. Josten.

A memorial service will be held Friday, August 17, 2012, at 1:30 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Ave., with Reverend Steve Fringer officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 1 p.m. until time of service.  Memorials to the First Presbyterian Church, The American Diabetes Assn., The Racine Symphony, or  the charity of your choice have been suggested,
