Francis 'Frank' E. Purdy

Surrounded by his loving family, Francis “Frank” E. Purdy, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at his residence.  Frank was born in Milwaukee, WI, on April 24, 1927, son of the late J. Burdette and Helen (Nee:  Corson) Purdy.

Frank proudly served in the United States Navy.  On July 23, 1949, he was united in marriage to Rosemary A. Tomasek.  He retired in 1988 from the Wisconsin Electric Company after forty-one years of service.   Frank was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 694 and the Catholic Men’s.  Frank enjoyed working outdoors, bowling and baseball, and was an avid Brewer and Packer fan.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-three years, Rosemary; his ten children, Denise (Donald) Sokolowski of FL, Marlene (Dick) Stindle of Sturtevant, David (Sandi) Purdy of AZ, Robert Purdy, John Purdy of Racine, Patricia (James) Buchholz of Caledonia, Nancy (Jeff) Zanotti of Onalaska, Richard (Jennifer) Purdy of VA, Sandra (Butch) Beier of MI, Sharon (Matt) Zagar of Racine; 25 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Guy (Barbara) Purdy of CO; many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dwight (Josephine) Purdy; and his nephew, Jeffery Purdy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St., with Rev. Ricardo Martin officiating.  Interment with full military honors will follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass.  Memorials to St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Hospice Alliance or to one’s favorite charity have been suggested by the family.
