Janice P. (Rognsvoog) Christensen

Janice P. Christensen, age 85, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center.

Janice was born in Racine on March 26, 1927, to Albert and Myrtle Rognsvoog. Janice was a lifelong member of Trinity Methodist Church in Racine and on August 12, 1950, she married Gordon “Corky” J. Christensen at the church. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2011.

In the mid-1940's, Janice graduated from the LaSalle Business Institute in Milwaukee with a stenography degree. After her graduation, she freelanced as a stenographer until 1962, when she was appointed as a court reporter for the Racine County Circuit Court. Janice retired as a court reporter in 1987 with many friendships, stories and continued love of the judicial process.

Janice maintained a full calendar and busy life after her retirement. She enjoyed wintering in Florida, golfing, and shopping, but she was happiest socializing with her host of friends and family. In recent years, she was a member of the Sons of Norway, Taco Belles, and the Shoop Ladies Golf League. Janice felt that she was the luckiest woman in the world to have so many loved ones close to home and near to her heart.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy (Joe) Borzynski, JoAnne (Marc) Elsmo, Laurie (Rick) Hennig; her five grandchildren, Stefanie (Yoav) Meiri, Michael (Shay) Borzynski, Betsy Elsmo (Benjamin Thomas), David Elsmo, Richie Hennig; her five great-grandchildren, Julia, Claire, Jack, Joe and Jordan; brothers and sister, Albert (Alice) Rognsvoog, Tom (Karen) Rognsvoog, Mary Ann (James) Furrie; brothers-in-law, Myron “Mike” Christensen and Peter Beck; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jane Beck.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at noon at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon. Memorials to the Trinity United Methodist Church have been suggested by the family.

A very special thank you to Dr. Gullberg and the caregivers at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints 2nd Floor for their loving and compassionate care.
