Raymond 'Ray' L. Olley

Franksville -- Surrounded by his loving family, Raymond “Ray” L. Olley, age 82, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013, at his residence.  Ray was born in Racine on February 12, 1931, son of the late George “Walter” and Alvina (Nee:  Meyer) Olley.

He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper.  On December 27, 1956, in Washington, D.C., he was united in marriage to Nancy R. Myers, who preceded him in death on June 12, 2008.    Ray and his brother, Francis “Doc” Olley, ran the family dairy farm in Franksville for many years.  He also drove for Lamers Tour Bus for twenty years, completing over a million miles without an accident.  He served on the Town of Caledonia Planning Commission for five years and was a past board member of St. Monica’s Senior Citizen Home.   Ray was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and belonged to the Racine Milk Producers Association.  An avid outdoorsman, Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his children, Gregory K. Olley, Shawn R. Olley, both of Franksville, Christopher P. (Jane) Olley of Racine; his four grandchildren, Allison, Luke, Jackson and Katherine; brother and sisters, Francis “Doc” Olley of Franksville, Sr. Michelle Olley, Sr. Betty Olley, both of Racine; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Dee (Ben) Sisemore of Stafford, VA, Elaine Myers of Arlington, VA, Gladys Olley of Franksville, Gail Olley of Lakeland, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Rev. Edmund Olley, Donald Olley, and David Olley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 7 p.m., with Rev. Ricardo Martin officiating.  Private interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Thursday from 4:30 p.m. until time of Mass at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Catherine’s High School, Raymond and Nancy Olley Fine Arts Scholarship, have been suggested.
