Patrick H. Devine

Patrick H. Devine, age 52, passed away at his home on May 16 after a lengthy battle with cancer.  His family was with him.

Pat was born on August 3, 1961, graduated from St. Catherine's High School in the Class of 1979 and was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. He was employed at the Waxdale facility of S.C. Johnson & Son for over twenty years until illness caused him to cease active work in February of 2013.

On May 28,1994, Pat and Dawn (Hultman) were married at Holy Name Church (now St.Richards of Chichester Parish) in Racine. Pat was a loyal, patient fan of the Chicago Cubs, enjoyed golf and bowling and followed the PGA Tour. He was a caring master of the many pets the family had through the years. He had an appreciation for quality movies and had a remarkable recall of lines out of the stories.

Family and faith were of utmost importance to him. He took an active interest in the activities of his children, providing guidance to assure homework assignments were completed and that the proper priorities were in order. He enjoyed and supported the volleyball, basketball and soccer teams of his children, especially those in the Racine County Youth Soccer Program. As to being a sound family man and a great Dad, Pat hit a solid .300.

Pat is survived by wife Dawn; daughter, Taylor; and son, Conor; his parents, Clem and Mary Ellen Devine; sisters, Carrie Devine of Boston and  Eileen Devine of Milwuakee; brother, Tom (Sofia) Devine of Cambridge, MA., father and mother-in law, Larry and Sylvia Hultman; sister and brother-in-law, Deede and Bobby Yerges; uncles and aunts, Dave and Sharon Devine of Racine, Bill and Sue Nelsen of Richardson, TX.; cousins, Dan (Renee) Devine of West Allis, Mike (Allie) of Madison, and Brad (Alex) Nelsen of Plano, TX.  Pat is also survived by nephew, Deaclan Devine; nieces, Elena Grimslid, Ciara Devine and Jessica Yerges; and great-nephew and niece, Kane and Tatum Yerges.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum.
