Surrounded by her family, Elisabeth Muir, age 84, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014, at Kindred North of Kenosha, following six years of health challenges. She was born in Tolkemit, Germany, on April 1, 1930, daughter of the late Hermann and Anna (Nee: Fischer) Bendrin.
On March 31, 1955, in Orkney, Scotland, she was united in marriage to James W. Muir. Together they moved to Racine in 1960. Elisabeth will be remembered for working at DeRose’s Bar for many years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was an exceptional cook and baker who also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. Above all, it was time spent with her family she treasured the most. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Jim; her son, James W. Muir; daughter-in-law, Renate Muir; grandchildren, Jessica Aschenbrenner (fiancé, Gene Sems), John Muir; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Liam Aschenbrenner; sister, Ingrid (Ernst) Argstatter; brother-in-law, John Muir; nieces, nephews, close caring friend, Joella (Ron) Coutts; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert J. Muir; and her sister, Adelheid (Branko) Zoric.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Ave., with Reverend Ben Johnston–Krase officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet Tuesday at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Memorials to First Presbyterian Church or one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Kindred North and to friends, and relatives for their loving care and support these past few years.
