Rose C. (DeMarco) Recupero

Rose C. Recupero, age 88, passed away Thursday October 7, 2010 at Parkside Manor, Kenosha, WI. Rose was born in Racine, on April 3, 1922, daughter of the late Joseph and Concetta (nee: Nigro) DeMarco.

On May 1, 1943, at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Russel F. Recupero who preceded her in death on September 19, 2001. Rose was employed by the Western Publishing Company in Racine for many years, last working as a Bookkeeper in the Coffeyville, Kansas, facility. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a former member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She was a member of the Vittoria Colonna at Roma Lodge and a member of the Ladies of Columbus. She enjoyed traveling, playing golf, bowling, gardening, bocci, and bridge. Most of all, she loved being with her family and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Connie (George) Organ of Racine, Dianne (Dave) DeByl of Waukesha, and Rick (Debbie) Recupero of Yorkville; her nine grandchildren, David (MarySue) Organ of Franklin, WI, Michelle Organ of Palatine, IL, Dan (Lisa) Organ of Dunlap, IL, Marty (Stephanie) Organ of Muskego, WI, David A. (Sandi) DeByl of Sussex, WI, Mark (Dawn) DeByl of Oconomowoc, WI, Amy (Ben) German of Big Bend, WI, Michael (Gwyn) Recupero of Seattle, WA, Jennifer (Josh) Fudge of Wauwatosa, WI; her eighteen great-grandchildren, Nick, Maddie, Jenna, and Grace Organ of Franklin, WI, Nathan, Matthew, and Kayla Organ of Dunlap, IL, Caitlin and Thomas Organ of Muskego, WI, John and Jack DeByl of Sussex, WI, Ally, Mandy, and Blake German of Big Bend, WI, Chloe and Vincent of Seattle, WA, and Ryan and Jacob of Wauwatosa, WI, the last being born on Rose’s 88th birthday this year.

She is further survived by brother-in-law Santo (Millie) Recupero of Camarillo, CA; sisters-in-law Rose Borel of Racine, Jane Krumberger of Madison, Frances Gilchrist of Evergreen, CO, and Mary Recupero of Palm Desert, CA; in addition to other nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Erco DeMarco; her sister, Mary Sesso; brothers-in-law Tony Recupero, Sam Mortellaro, Fred Borel, Mike Gilchrist, Louis Sesso, and Bill Krumberger; sisters-in-law Toni DeMarco, Ann Mortellaro, Eleanor Recupero; niece Vicky Recupero; and nephews, James Borel and Gary Gilchrist.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Garden Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to the “Alzheimer’s Disease Research Foundation” or the “Stars and Stripes Honor Flights” (organization taking Southeast-Wisconsin WWII veterans to Washington, DC).

The family would like to thank Season’s Hospice of Kenosha for their tender care and concern in helping Rose during her last few days.
