JoNelle J. (Navin) Gerardo

JoNelle J. Gerardo, age 76, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center. JoNelle was born in Green Bay, WI, on January 2, 1936, daughter of the late Eugene and Lucille (Nee: Buss) Navin.

On December 22, 1956, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Union Grove she was united in marriage to Albert “Buff” J. Gerardo, who preceded her in death on June 26, 2011. JoNelle attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing. Her career in nursing began at St. Luke’s Hospital in the Emergency Room and she was later employed by Kurten Clinic in Pediatrics, until her retirement in 2000. JoNelle was a longtime member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Kurten Clinic Retirees and was a huge supporter of the Special Olympics. She enjoyed gardening, volunteering and time spent with her card club friends. JoNelle’s children and family were the fortunate recipients of many beautiful knitted creations she made throughout the years. Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Jean (Edward) Coenraad of Appleton, Vicki (Gene) Signorin of Raymond, Richie Gerardo of Racine, Jeri (Mark) Cooper of Tomahawk, Jeff (Laurie) Gerardo of Kalamazoo, MI; her grandchildren, Jacob and Lucas Coenraad, Luci (Dan) Schuler, Craig and Angela Signorin, G. Connor Cooper; brothers and sisters, Thomas (Diana) Navin, James (Sylvia) Navin, Janice (Darrell) Graf, Bernard “Bud” (Carolyn) Navin, John “Jack” (Carol) Navin, Sue (Dennis) Remus, Carol (Gerry) Waldvogel; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Beverly “Mabel” Spero, Catherine Jaster, Richard (Rose) Gerardo, Margaret (David) Ramos, John Gerardo (Tom Macjer), Emma (Tony) Klein; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 20, 2012, at noon at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St. Private interment will be held at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Paris township. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Steven Johnson, the staff at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center, and Hospice Alliance for their loving and compassionate care.
