Kenosha -- Michael E. Roark, age 59, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee. He was born in Chicago, IL, on June 4, 1952.
Mike enjoyed music and playing the bass guitar in a number of bands. He also enjoyed riding his Harley and his weekly trivia games at McAuliffe’s Pub.
Surviving are his son, Shawn; and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home, Tuesday, June 5, 2012, from 5 – 7 p.m. followed by a service at 7 p.m. with Reverend John Fleming officiating. Private interment will be held at St. George Cemetery.

Sue Ann (Young) Farthing
Sue Ann Farthing, age 83, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born in Franklin, IN, July 19, 1928 daughter of the late George and Christine (Nee: Smith) Young.
On November 24, 1961, in Franklin she was united in marriage to Robert E. Farthing, who preceded her in death on September 14, 1994. Sue was employed by Racine Unified School District as a receptionist in the central office, retiring in 1993. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandson. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are daughters, Sandra (Mark) Wood of Greenwood, IN, Robin Golden and Stanley Bell of Indianapolis, IN, Kimberly (Winifred) Teague of Racine; grandchildren, Terri (Mike) Hicks, Keeliah (Marcus) Hampton, Anthony Golden, Nathaniel Novell, Kayon Teague; 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Violet L. Klinkhammer
Mrs. Violet L. (nee: Mau) Klinkhammer, 100, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at her residence. Violet was born in Corliss, WI, on February 19, 1912, to John C. and Estella L. (nee: Call) Mau. She was formerly united in marriage to John M. Klinkhammer, who preceded her in death on February 22, 1977.
Violet was an independent lady, who was proud to maintain her house on her own. She often was able to scrub the floors on her hands and knees. Violet was an avid collector of Hummel figurines and also enjoyed playing cards, especially Rummy 500 and Schafkopf. But most of all, she was a very kind and lovable person who will be missed.
Violet is survived by her nieces and nephews, Ronald W. Mau, Shirley Bleichner, Carol Krenzke, David Mau, John Mau, Sue Ellen Raasch, Kathy Johnson and Tom Stonehouse; sister-in-law, Virginia Mau; as well as many great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Ilene E. Sadowski, age 87, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012, at the Becker Shoop Center. Ilene was born in Iron Mountain, MI, on December 27, 1924, daughter of the late Alfred and Blanche (Nee: Besson) Marcell.
On December 15, 1945, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Sadowski, who preceded her in death, February 9, 1993. She was employed by General Motors for twenty years, retiring in February of 1993.
Ilene was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. Her pastimes included knitting, bowling, and casinos. More than anything, she treasured time spent with her family in Crivitz, WI. She was devoted to her family and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her son, Dale (Anita) Sadowski of Racine; 15 loving grandchildren; 34 loving great-grandchildren; 3 loving great-great-grandchildren; her daughters-in-law, Sharon Sadowski of OK, Sharon Sadowski of Weyauwega, WI, Rita Sadowski of Milwaukee; sister-in-law, Joyce Marcell of Pewaukee, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. William 'Bill' D. Gittings
Surrounded by his loving family, William “Bill” D. Gittings, age 87, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012, at his residence. He was born in Racine, October 22, 1924, son of the late William L. and Carolyn S. (Nee: Dunlap) Gittings.
Bill graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1942” and attended UW-Madison, where he was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. During World War II he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps where he served as a flight instructor on B24s and B25s. After the war, Bill returned to UW-Madison and served as Manager of “The Crew Team” and graduated with a degree in business. On May 24, 1952, in Mason City, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Theo M. Pickford.
The Gittings family owned and operated Gold Medal Folding Furniture for three generations. Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Somerset Club and Racine Rotary Club, where he was a Paul P. Harris Fellow. He was very community-minded and served on various boards. A railroad enthusiast, he loved trains, enjoyed traveling and, most of all, cherished time spent with his family. He will be deeply missed.

Mary Z. (Zacek) Rokosky
Mary Z. Rokosky, age 100, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012, at Ridgewood Care Center. Mary was born November 27, 1911, in Culver, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Paul and Magdalene (nee: Krsek) Zacek.
She was married to Emil J. Rokosky on September 11, 1937, in Chicago. They came to Racine in 1949, where Emil was the director of the Racine Zoo for thirty years. He died on June 23, 1981. Mary served as the secretary for the Racine Zoo and was instrumental in the organization of the Racine Zoo Auxiliary and Gift Shop. She also helped care for young animals that were abandoned by their mothers. She was a longtime member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church and enjoyed reading and traveling.

Mary F. (Groulik) Josepowitz
Mary F. Josepowitz, age 85, passed away at Kenosha Estates on Friday May 25, 2012. Mary was born in Racine May 12, 1927, daughter of the late John and Anna (nee: Lukas) Groulik.
On October 20, 1945, Mary was united in marriage to Alex Josepowitz at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, where she was a lifelong member. They shared thirty-three years together before Alex passed away April 5, 1978. Mary was an Avon representative for thirty-five years. She enjoyed playing bingo and doing ceramics.
Survivors include her daughter, Edith Bushey of Mundelein, Il; son, Thomas Josepowitz of Racine; grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Strzyzewski, Thomas (Jill) Josepowitz Jr., Lynn (Brian) Hughes, Mark (Shannon) Bushey; seven great-grandchildren, Eric and Hannah Strzyzewski, Taylor and Emily Josepowitz, Logan and Isabella Hughes, and Addison Bushey; brother, Jerome (Marion) Groulik of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. On October 20, 1945, Mary was united in marriage to Alex Josepowitz at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, where she was a lifelong member. They shared thirty-three years together before Alex passed away April 5, 1978. Mary was an Avon representative for thirty-five years. She enjoyed playing bingo and doing ceramics.

Esther M. (Barwich) Johnson
Esther M. Johnson, age 86, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012, at Ridgewood Care Center. Esther was born in Racine, November 24, 1925, daughter of the late Carl and Freida (Nee: Herzog) Barwich.
Esther was a graduate of Washington Park High School “Class of 1944.” Furthering her education she received a nursing degree from Columbia School of Nursing, Milwaukee, WI, in the Nurse Cadet Corps. The war ended before she joined the service.
On June 24, 1948 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Esther was united in marriage to Robert L. Johnson, who preceded her in death, October 21, 2004. Esther was employed by Lincoln Lutheran for fifteen years. She was a charter member of Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing schafskopf and bridge, bowling and camping. She devoted and cherished time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

Reginald 'Bud' J. Mosher
Reginald “Bud” J. Mosher, age 74, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Ridgewood Care Center. Bud was born in Wisconsin Rapids on April 23, 1938, son of the late Reginald J. and Virginia A. (Nee: Henke) Mosher Sr.
On September 7, 1963, at St. Joseph Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Susan Kroes. Bud began and ended his career at ACME Die; however, between 1972 and 1993 he worked as a field service technician for two different industrial furnace companies and traveled the globe. Bud served in the United States National Guard and was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. He had a great love of trains, both the real thing and toy trains. He was a member of Badgerland S Gaugers Train Club for many years. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of forty-eight years, Susan; brother, Robert Mosher of Racine; sister, Sheila (Robert) Davidson of Plymouth, MN; brothers-in-law, Laurance (Pat) Kroes of West Allis, Richard Lannoye of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. James E. LaMasters Sr., age 81, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the Veteran’s Home, Town of Dover, WI. James was born in Mattoon, IL, on April 26, 1931, son of the late James Oscar-Leon and Blossom L. (Nee: Reed) LaMasters.
During the Korean War he served in the United States Navy. Throughout his career he was employed by Belle City Malleable Foundry, J.I. Case Company, AMC, and retired from Chrysler October 31, 1987. He was a member of the Shriners and the Masons. James loved country western music, was a workaholic, and loved life. More than anything he loved and enjoyed time spent with his family. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Carol E. (Nee: Sheppard); his three children, Sandra (Wayne) Rintoul of Kenosha, James LaMasters Jr., Jamilyn LaMasters, both of Racine; his grandchildren, Ryan James and Reba Nicole Rintoul, Kristi Lee LaMasters, Tyler James LaMasters; sister, Marjorie (Dale) Wines; brother-in-law, John Greathouse, all of Mattoon, IL; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. James J. Henderson, age 44, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. James was born in Clarkesdale, MS, on September 30, 1967, to the proud parents Louis and Beatrice Givens Sr.
James was raised and educated in Racine, WI. He was an avid sportsman. James played all sports, but was most successful in track; he set many records that are still posted and unbroken at J.I. Case High School. He was known to many as “King James” of the SGP social group and Southside Center.
James worked at Lincoln Lutheran as a cook until their closing. He then attended Gateway Technical College, where he received his CNC training.

Edmund M. Howard
Edmund Michael Howard, age 75, passed away Friday, May 18, 2012, at Wheaton Franciscan–All Saints Medical Center. Edmund was born in Chicago, IL, on June 12, 1936, the eldest son of the late Walter and Judith (Nee: Saladis) Howard.
During the Korean War Edmund proudly served with the United States Marine Corps stationed in Japan. He was honorably discharged on April 10, 1959. On February 27, 1960 he was united in marriage to Virginia D. Borowski, who preceded him in death on January 30, 1997.
He was employed as a journeyman electrician by AMC Chrysler for twenty-eight years, retiring in 1997. He will forever be remembered as the greatest father and friend that anyone could wish for. “God Bless you, Dad, and rest in peace.”
Survivors include his son, Thomas A. Howard; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Edmund Howard, June 24, 2011.

Mrs. Kay I. Noppe, 76, passed away at her home with her loving family at her side on Thursday, May 17, 2012.
Kay was born in Illinois to the late Gordon and Mabel Raguse on December 3, 1935. In Racine, at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage to Louis J. Noppe Sr. on February 21, 1952.

George J. Janosik
George J. Janosik, age 86, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee. George was born in Racine, July 24, 1925, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Nee: Porstner) Janosik and was a lifelong resident of Racine
During World War II he proudly served in the United States Army as a second scout in the 119th Infantry Regiment 30th Division in the European Theatre of Operations. George received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star medal and spent seven months in a German POW camp. The 30th Infantry was notably recognized and rated as an outstanding division by General Eisenhower.
On June 4, 1949, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Delores Kuehnemann. George started his career at Southeastern Savings in January of 1952, working for 32 years and retiring as president in July of 1984. He went on to serve as Vice President of Pioneer Savings from 1984 until 1989 and then worked as a part-time bailiff in Racine County Courts for seven years. He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and served on numerous community and nonprofit organizations over the years. George enjoyed playing golf and cribbage. He treasured time with his family and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-two years, Delores; his children, Dr. Jeffrey (Lyn) Janosik of Racine, Dr. Denise Janosik (John Schmitt) of St. Louis, MO, Terry (Scott) Ritenour of Wauwatosa; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Janosik Jr., Jennifer Janosik, Tiana Schmitt, Marina Schmitt, Erin Ritenour, Autumn Ritenour; sister-in-law, Bonnie Janosik of SC; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Surrounded by her loving family, Eileen M. Celeste, age 85, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Eileen was born in Kansasville, WI, April 22, 1927, daughter of the late Hardy and Ella (Nee: DeGroot) Helding.
Eileen was a graduate of Union Grove High School “Class of 1944.” On September 11, 1948, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Ernest Celeste. During World War II she was employed by the United States Navy and retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company after twenty years of service. Eileen was a longtime member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and Altar Society, and member of Metropolitan Life Insurance “20 Year Club.” An avid Cubs fan, Eileen also enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, sewing and her trips to the casino. More than anything she cherished time with her family. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-three years, Ernest; her children, Barbara (Ken) McCloskey, John (Wendy) Celeste, Mark (Julie) Celeste, Christine Wenzel; twelve grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters-in-law, Beverly Arndt, Eleanor Schroeder; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Omer Dean McKnight Jr.
Omer D. McKnight Jr., 69, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints on Tuesday, May 15, 2012.
Omer was born in Georgetown, Kentucky, to the late Omer D. Sr. and Geneva (nee: Faulconer) McKnight. In Conway, South Carolina, he was united in marriage to Delores Clarice Nelson on August 13, 1963, and had lived in Racine for most of his life.
Mr. McKnight was very proud to have served in the United States Marine Corps as an MP from 1960 until 1963. He was employed as security at the Nevada Power Company in Las Vegas for ten years, the Brownsville, Texas, Police Department for three years, Harris Metals in Racine and retired with both First Transit and Durham Bus Service.
Omer was a member of Atonement Lutheran Chruch. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and bowling. Omer was proud to be a sharpshooter and marksman for the USMC and the police force. He was an avid Brewer and Packer fan. But what was important to him and his family was that Omer was a very caring person who would help anybody in need. He had a special relationship with his great granddaughter, Makayla, who would call him “Pop Pop.”
Omer will be dearly missed by his wife, Delores; three children, Terry (Beth) McKnight, Sherry McKnight (boyfriend, Juan) and Barry McKnight; five grandchildren, Wendy (Isaac) Flores, Victoria McKnight, Georgia McKnight, Amy Temby and Matthew Temby (girlfriend, Carrie); also three other great grandchildren, Isaac, Christian and Kathleen; sister, Patricia Maudlin (boyfriend, Cecil Arrington); nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Sturgeon Bay -- Harold Thomas Krusienski, age 95, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Golden Living Center/Dorchester Sturgeon Bay. Harold was born in Racine, March 7, 1917, son of the late Walter and Mildred ( Nee: Boden) Krusienski.
Harold graduated from William Horlick High School ”Class of 1936” and served in the US Army. On September 16, 1939, at St.John’s Lutheran Church he was united in marriage to Kathryn B. Reich, who preceded him in death October 17, 2004. Harold was employed by Racine Unified School District, retiring as head engineer. He also was employed with Johnson Wax. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed “putzing” around the house. Above all, Harold treasured time spent with his family. He will be deeply missed.

Patricia Jean Gertz, age 71, passed away Friday, May 11, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Humble, TX. Patricia was born in Kenosha, WI, on January 17, 1941, daughter of the late Clifford Kavis and Winifred (Nee: Mack) Kavis Kaldenberg.
She was a hard worker who always took care of her family and others. She waitressed at a number of restaurants including Heckels, George Webb and The White Diner. She was a caring, loving person who was always willing to help people. She will be dearly missed by loving family and friends.
Surviving are her loving daughter, Diana Duerst and fiancé Robert Troughton, John Kavis and Richard Kavis; grandchildren, Amy, Felicia , Brittany, James, David, Josh and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Miranda, Holli, Leila , Diezel, Ryla, Bryce and Jazaerion; other relatives and friends. Kenneth P. Jensen
Kenneth Paul Jensen, 83, passed away Thursday May 10, 2012, at St Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee.
Ken was born in Racine Nov 3, 1928, to the late Peter and Marie Jensen (nee. Mogensen) of Denmark. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Wallis, on August 23, 1946, and their first child, Jamie Lynn, arrived in 1947 and son Randy Paul in 1952.
For 14 years, Ken led a dual life as a budding musician and as the national sales rep for Webster. A consummate trailblazer, Ken moved to California in 1960, where he established Jensen Electronics and became known as ‘Mr. Intercom’ in the Los Angeles area. After a brief stint as vice president of Fischer-Berkeley, in 1984, he became president of Stentofon USA, headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1989 he retired to Racine.
His passing is preceded by his son, Randy Jensen; sister Doris; her husband, Erland Muoio; and niece, Barbara Lawrence. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley of 65 years, as well as daughter and son-in-law Jamie and Larry Marsh; grandson, Jason and wife, Helle Marsh, and granddaughter Katherine Marsh, all of Orange County, California.
Ken was always ready to enjoy life. He loved music, especially Jazz, travel and people. He loved his friends as much as they loved him… always the life of the party… quick with a joke and a compliment in equal parts. His ready smile and sense of humor were welcome everywhere. He was friendly, curious, kind, generous and oh so much fun! He will be greatly missed by all of us who knew and loved him. He was to us a mentor on life, and an inspiration who made every day with him a special one.

Genevieve Putz passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL. She was born Oct 2, 1925, in Racine, WI, to John and Mary (Pryczynek) Grenski.
On April 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to Anthony F. Putz, who preceded her in death on May 9, 2007. Genevieve was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed the simple things in life with complete devotion to her family. As an avid sports fan, she loved to follow the Packers and Brewers.
Survivors include her three children, David (Nancy) of Delafield, WI, Nancy (Rob) Dietz of Schaumburg, IL, Sharon (Michael) Opacich of Lake Zurich, IL; grandchildren, Nicholas, Brian, Elizabeth, Ryan, Hilary, Christian and Ellen. Joan M. (Petersen) Browne
Surrounded by her loving family, Joan M. Browne, age 69, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012, at her residence following a battle with brain cancer. Joan was born in Racine, September 29, 1942, daughter of the late Irving L. and Mildred E. (Nee: Freitag) Petersen.
Joan was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1960.” On April 8, 1961, at Communion Lutheran Church in Racine she was united in marriage to William C. Browne. After many years of staying at home to raise her family, Joan started working part-time at North Side Bank to buy the family a tent camper. After earning her banking degree, Joan went on to work for thirty years, retiring from Wells Fargo as a personal banker in 2008. She was a fifty-year member and actively involved in the UCT (United Commercial Travelers) serving as Wisconsin Grand Counselor, Senior Counselor, and took great pride in organizing the Christmas party for the children and volunteering with Special Olympics. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. First and foremost, Joan dedicated her time to her children and grandchildren and all of their activies. She will be deeply missed.

Harjit S. Bains
Harjit S. Bains, age 59, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at his residence. Harjit was born in India, January 9, 1953.
After graduation from high school he became a police officer in India prior to moving to Racine in 1980. A very hard worker, Harjit was employed for years at Haban Manufacturing and was last working at In-Sink-Erator. On December 25, 1998, he was united in marriage to Dolores C. Trevino. Harjit greeted everyone with his infectious smile, loved to joke around, and treasured cookouts and time spent with his grandchildren. He will forever be remembered as a loving, generous man with a huge heart. He will be deeply missed.

Kenneth W. Oldenburg
Kenneth W. Oldenburg, age 88, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Ridgewood Care Center. Ken was born in Racine, September 19, 1923, son of the late Oscar and Olivia (Nee: Hansen) Oldenburg.
On September 25, 1943, he was united in marriage to Ruth V. Keller at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Racine. She preceded him in death, January 5, 2012. Ken enlisted in the U.S. Navy September 30, 1943, during World War II with the Seabees. He proudly served his country until December 8, 1945. Following his service, Ken was employed by the Racine Fire Department for 29 years, retiring as captain from Station #2 on December 31, 1978. While working for the fire department, he also was employed by Coryell Nursery for 25 years as a landscaper and decorated the Wheary home for the Christmas light display in North Bay. After retiring from the fire department, Ken and Ruth moved to St. Germain, WI, and enjoyed 25 years in the northwoods, returning to Racine in 2004 to be closer to their family.
Ken was a member of Community United Church of Christ of St. Germain, WI, and was the chairman of the men’s fellowship for more than 17 years. He was the auctioneer for the men’s fellowship fundraiser, served as head of the organizing committee to build the St. Germain Veteran’s Memorial Wall and sold bricks for the wall. While in St. Germain, Ken started collecting aluminum tabs for the Ronald McDonald House in Marshfield, WI, with people around the country donating tabs along with UCC church, millions of tabs were collected. In northern Wisconsin, Ken was known as Mr. Tab. Bring your tabs to the memorial service.
Ken was a member of the Lion’s Club of St. Germain. He received many awards including the Melvin Jones Award, one of the highest awards given by the Lion’s Club. He enjoyed fishing, boating, horseshoes, woodworking, coin collecting, softball, bowling, cooking for the chamber of commerce, Lion’s Club and church activities throughout the years. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packer fan. Ken’s daughter, Jan, had the privilege and honor of accompanying her Dad on the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., on April 28, 2012. He was a true American hero. Ken was known for his wonderful sense of humor. He always made people laugh and always had a joke to tell. His greatest love was his wife and his daughters. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.

Matias S. Morales
Matias S. Morales, 85, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at his residence.
Matias was born in Cotulla, Texas, on July 14, 1926, to the late Rosalio and Luisa (nee: Sanchez) Morales and had lived in Racine most of his life. On November 22, 1952, he was united in marriage to Barbara L. (nee: Grant) Morales; she preceded him in death on September 8, 1999.
Matias had been employed at American Motors for over 30 years. He will always be remembered as someone who had a heart of gold, who helped anyone in need, and was a blessing to all.
He will be dearly missed by his children, Anthony Morales of Fairbury, NE, and Angela (Brian) Morales-Hejl of Racine; grandchildren, Anthony and Augustine Morales, Alicia Morales-Gonzalez, LaNae, Amelio, Aphaisia Morales, and Autumn Hejl; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Natividad and Jesse Morales; sisters, Rosa Garibay, Jane Serra and Maria Morales; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Ilene Frances Levin: A Woman of Valor
Duluth, MN -- Ilene Frances Levin passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012, after a twenty-five year, incredibly courageous and inspirational battle against head and neck cancer. Ilene was born on April 29, 1955, in Racine, Wisconsin. It can be said of Ilene that for her entire 57 years she lived her life in such an exemplary manner that she truly possessed the idealized traits of a woman of valor as immortalized by King Solomon in the words of Proverbs 31. Ilene was the youngest of three children in a well-established Jewish family, born to Harold and Pearl Levin in Racine, Wisconsin. Besides being loving, it can be said that both of Ilene’s parents were wonderful examples and instrumental in establishing the foundation of her strong work ethic and impassioned community involvement.
After graduating from high school, Ilene chose to stay close to home and attended college at the University of Wisconsin – Parkside. There she earned both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees. Between earning those degrees, she worked at Parkside as a guidance counselor. Ilene cherished her experiences at Parkside, and remained a strong supporter of Parkside her entire life. For most, having an MBA would be enough; for Ilene it was just the beginning. To enhance her employability, she went back to school and earned a Master of Accounting Science from the prestigious University of Illinois She earned a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee; she also found time to become both a CPA and a Certified Management Accountant. She had a long association with the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants administering professional exams.
For a number of years, Ilene was co-owner (with her husband Steve Goldfine) and Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of Goldin Properties Midwest, a hospitality management company in Duluth, Minnesota, that operated hotels in northern Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan. Prior to that, Ilene also spent several years in the electric manufacturing and banking industries, was a small business consultant providing assistance with loan packaging as well as all aspects of business planning for the Center for Economic Development in Duluth. She was an author and instructor of continuing education courses. Ilene had teaching experience in both Finance and Accounting at University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh, Marquette University, and the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee prior to becoming an Assistant Professor at the Labovitz School of Business at the University of Minnesota – Duluth.
Ilene’s community involvement included service on the Board of Directors and as a committee person on the Duluth – Superior Community Foundation, North Star Community Development Corporation, Minnesota Business Finance Corporation. At UMD, Ilene was on boards for both Glensheen and the Tweed Museum. She was Treasurer of Temple Israel in Duluth and served as Co-President of the Northland Jewish Fund, and nationally on the Network of Independent Communities of the Jewish Federation of North America, as well as the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas.
Ilene is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Steven Goldfine of Duluth; sister, Barbara (David) Behnke; nephew, Joseph (Danita Evans) Behnke; grandnephews, Isaiah and Isaac Behnke, all of San Jose, California; brother, Jess (Ellen) Levin; nephews, Jonathon (Sarah) Levin and Adam Levin; and grandniece, Ella; mother-in-law, Beverly Goldfine; sister-in-law, Amy Goldfine; brother-in-law, Dan (Robbie) Goldfine; niece, Ariel; and nephew, Jonah Goldfine, all of Scottsdale, Arizona; nephew, Jason Levin of Milwaukee; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Donde Goldfine of Duluth; niece, Fia Goldfine; and nephew, Ted (Julie) Goldfine of St. Paul; and of course, Thurber, Ilene’s very special pet beagle.

Prior to that, Ilene also spent several years in the electric manufacturing and banking industries, was a small business consultant providing assistance with loan packaging as well as all aspects of business planning for the Center for Economic Development in Duluth. She was an author and instructor of continuing education courses. Ilene had teaching experience in both Finance and Accounting at University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh, Marquette University, and the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee prior to becoming an Assistant Professor at the Labovitz School of Business at the University of Minnesota – Duluth.
Ilene’s community involvement included service on the Board of Directors and as a committee person on the Duluth – Superior Community Foundation, North Star Community Development Corporation, Minnesota Business Finance Corporation. At UMD, Ilene was on boards for both Glensheen and the Tweed Museum. She was Treasurer of Temple Israel in Duluth and served as Co-President of the Northland Jewish Fund, and nationally on the Network of Independent Communities of the Jewish Federation of North America, as well as the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas.
Ilene is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Steven Goldfine of Duluth; sister, Barbara (David) Behnke; nephew, Joseph (Danita Evans) Behnke; grandnephews, Isaiah and Isaac Behnke, all of San Jose, California; brother, Jess (Ellen) Levin; nephews, Jonathon (Sarah) Levin and Adam Levin; and grandniece, Ella; mother-in-law, Beverly Goldfine; sister-in-law, Amy Goldfine; brother-in-law, Dan (Robbie) Goldfine; niece, Ariel; and nephew, Jonah Goldfine, all of Scottsdale, Arizona; nephew, Jason Levin of Milwaukee; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Donde Goldfine of Duluth; niece, Fia Goldfine; and nephew, Ted (Julie) Goldfine of St. Paul; and of course, Thurber, Ilene’s very special pet beagle.

James 'Jim' H. King
Surrounded by his loving family, James “Jim” H. King, age 89, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012, at his residence. Jim was born in Racine, November 3, 1922, son of the late Harry and Ruth (Nee: Gunderson) King.
During World War II Jim proudly served in the United States Army for thirty-four months, serving ten months in the European Theatre Operations. On January 15, 1944, in Houston, Texas, he was united in marriage to Catharine V. Steiner, who preceded him in death on October 31, 1996. He was employed by Progressive Dairy for twenty- eight years and then by Gateway for fifteen years. Jim was a surrogate grandpa to all and was affectionately known as “Pappy.” He was a loving and devoted husband, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Margaret E. Arndt
Margaret E. Arndt, age 83, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Oak Ridge Care Center, Union Grove, WI. Margaret was born in Racine on October 20, 1928, daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Nee: Holler) Arndt.
Margaret was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1947.” She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Margaret had been employed by Walker Manufacturing for a number of years and was last employed at High Standard.
After retirement she found great joy helping in the kitchen at Totero’s. An avid Cubs fan, Margaret also enjoyed knitting, playing poker and shopping, especially for others. More than anything she treasured time spent with her nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her brothers and sister, James Arndt, Charles Arndt, both of Racine, Marion Witkofski of Racine; sisters-in-law, Emily Arndt of Sturtevant, Beverly Arndt of Racine; nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear friends.

Arthur P. Jorgenson
Arthur P. Jorgenson, age 90, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at his residence. Arthur was born in Racine, September 20, 1921, son of the late Arthur P. and Eva M. (Nee: Johnson) Jorgenson Sr. and was a lifelong Racine resident.
Arthur was a graduate of Washington Park High School “Class of 1938.” During World War II Arthur proudly served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre as Lieutenant JG aboard the LST 584. On June 28, 1947, in Racine he was united in marriage to Jeannette Frank. In 1966 Arthur founded Plastic Parts Inc, and was currently still serving as President.
Arthur was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church and the Gideons. He served as former director of the North Side Bank, former trustee of North Central College, Naperville, IL, and on the school board at Wind Point School. He cherished time spent with his family, especially their trips to Clearwater, FL.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-four years, Jeannette; his children, Jacqueline L. (Mark) Kartman, Sharon L. Jorgenson, Jeffrey P. (Katherine) Jorgenson, Jill R. George T. Fineran
George T. Fineran, age 90, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at his residence. George was born in Janesville, WI, on June 16, 1921 to the late Thomas and Alice (Nee: Birmingham) Fineran.
On December 26, 1953, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Helen M. Leech, who preceded him in death, October 29, 2010. George was a fan of, and active in, sports having played Professional Minor League Baseball for the Chicago Cubs and later coaching his sons’ Little League teams in various sports. He was a lifelong fan of the Brewers, Badgers, Packers and Bucks. George enlisted in World War II and served in the 5th Ranger Battalion in the European and African campaigns. He was a proud recipient of the Presidential Citation. He was in many major battles including D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge.
On December 26, 1953, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Helen M. Leech, who preceded him in death, October 29, 2010. George was a fan of, and active in, sports having played Professional Minor League Baseball for the Chicago Cubs and later coaching his sons’ Little League teams in various sports. He was a lifelong fan of the Brewers, Badgers, Packers and Bucks. George enlisted in World War II and served in the 5th Ranger Battalion in the European and African campaigns. He was a proud recipient of the Presidential Citation. He was in many major battles including D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge.
George was a dedicated father and husband, taking care of his wife, Helen, during her long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He loved his sons, and looked forward to their visits, especially when they brought their dogs.
George is survived by his sons, Thomas Fineran, Patrick “Paddy” Fineran; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Bart; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Gerene; a sister, Mary; and a brother, John.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St., with Rev. Don Zerkel officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32.
Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of Mass.

Michael 'Jake' W. Jacobson
Michael “Jake” William Jacobson, age 60, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Hospice House in Kenosha. Michael was born in Racine on April 7, 1952, son of the late Herbert and Evelyn (Nee: Saas) Jacobson.
Mike graduated from J.I. Case High School “Class of 1970” and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 - 1976. On December 9, 1978, he was united in marriage to Mary Lucksted. Through the years he was employed as a sheet metal fabricator by Bert Jensen & Sons, Illinois Range and Martin Petersen Company. Mike was avid Packers and Brewers Fan. He will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his siblings, Mary (Jack), Kathy and John (Carol); nephews and nieces, Matthew, Sean, Lee, Lori (Keith), Jodi, Kelly; and his “little love,” his great-niece, Ava Jacobson; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Michael Herbert.
Private services will be held with interment at West Lawn Memorial Park.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Julie, Jan, Dean, and Sally from Hospice Alliance and Dr. Ridolfi and Dr. Currey from Clement Zablocki VA Medical Center for their loving care.
