Mrs. Eva H. Petkunas (nee: Malczinski), 88, passed away at her home on Saturday, June 28, 2008.
Eva was born in Racine to the late John and Martha (nee: Podziulis) Malczinski on June 25, 1920. She had lived in Racine her whole life. In Racine, she was united in marriage to Joseph Petkunas on August 19, 1955.
Mrs. Petkunas was a member of St. Richard’s of Chichester Catholic Church. She served in the United States Army in the Woman’s Army Corps. (WAC). Mrs. Petkunas was employed by the City of Racine as a Crossing Guard. She was also a member of the Lithuanian Woman’s Club. She enjoyed gardening, eating out and the company of her friends. Most importantly she loved being with her children, grandchildren, and her extended family from Chicago, having recently met a new great-great grandson, Doc Vasquez.
Eva is survived by her two daughters, Maria (Tony) Kivenas and Jean Petkunas; three grandchildren, Nicholas (Sarika) Kivenas, Andrea Kivenas, and Joseph Petkunas; one great grandson, Darian Kivenas; and also is expecting a second great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, on September 21, 2005.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Richard’s of Chichester Catholic Church on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church from 12 noon until the time of Mass. Memorials for Masses or to Alzheimer’s Research have been suggested.
