Ezra R. Reed, 74, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, with his family by his side.
He was born on July 26, 1933, in Racine, to Halsey J. and Elta (nee: Meverden) Reed.
Ezra is a graduate of Park High School.
He was united in marriage to Margaret Daceno on May 5, 1953, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church rectory.
Ezra served as an Airman 3rd Class in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 30, 1959.
Ezra was a lithographer at Mueller Color Plate in Milwaukee, retiring on June 30, 1993. He was an honorary life member of the Graphic Communications International Union.
Ezra loved being with his family first and foremost. He enjoyed life by spending time in Las Vegas with his wife and family. Ezra loved motorcycles, horseshoes, playing pool and watching the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed his friends at Dynasty Restaurant and time with his special friend, Valo Martin. Ezra was a member of the National Rifle Association and was honored for his charitable contributions.
Ezra will be forever missed by his children, Daniel (Christine) Reed of Kopake, N.Y.; David Reed of Racine; and Susan (Douglas) Cameron of Evans, Ga. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sara (Joseph Harmon) Reed, Carrie (Buster Braun) Reed, Kelly Reed, Ezra Reed, Amanda Gano, Megan Reed, Frank Unger, Zachary Unger and Taylor Cameron; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Justin, Jordan, Raquel, Jerome, Jackson, Olivia, Nina and Donovan; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Ezra was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret, who died on May 20, 1996, and other family members that he cherished the memory of for many years.
Ezra’s life will be celebrated during a Memorial Service on Monday, June 30, 2008, at 7 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 1212 Lathrop Ave. Friends and relatives may meet with the family on Monday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Highway 32, on Tuesday, July 1, at 10 a.m.
