Nadia B. Brinkmann

Nadia B. Brinkmann, 78, of Racine passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, June 9, 2008.

Nadia was born in Miami, Arizona, on March 29, 1930, to the late Theodore and Alma (nee: Nelson) Peterson. A graduate of William Horlick High School Class of 1948, she went on to earn her nursing degree from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in 1956.

On February 25, 1956, Nadia was united in marriage with the love of her life, Ronald D. Brinkmann. She faithfully served our community as a Registered Nurse. Nadia was employed by St. Luke’s Hospital, Woodstock Care Center and Oak Ridge Care Center, retiring in 1991.

She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, where she enjoyed her positions as financial secretary and Sunday school teacher. Nadia had also been a 4-H Club Leader. Among her interests, she liked to sew, knit, crochet and was an avid reader. Nadia was a proud member of the Sewing Club for over 60 years and the First Baptist “Knit-Wits” knitting club. Above all, she was happiest when in the surroundings of her entire family.

Surviving are her loving husband, Ronald Brinkmann; their children, Kathy L. Andersen of Racine; Susan (Patrick) Dolan of The Colony, TX; Dawn (James) Herbst of Racine; David R. Brinkmann (Nancy Juern) of Racine and Joan (Major Thomas, Ret.) Stafslien of San Diego, CA; son-in-law, Lawrence Andersen III of Racine; grandchildren, Lawrence (Jamie) Andersen IV, Jason (Nissi) Dolan, Ronald (Frances) Andersen, Melissa Dolan, Emily (Michael) Rodriguez, Justin (Michelle) Brinkmann, Joshua Herbst; Jesse, Timothy, Rebekah and Aaron Dolan; Benjamin and Jonathan Stafslien; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Janyce (Carl) Granetzke; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Peterson, Charlene Passmore, Shirley (Gene) Rottmann, Pat (Joe) Rinehardt, and Leslie (Jim) Schwandt; brother-in-law, Phillip (Lou) Funk; many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.

In addition to her parents, Nadia was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Brady Andersen; brother, Norman Peterson; and brother-in-law, Al Passmore.

Funeral services will be held in First Baptist Church, 3117 Lathrop Avenue, on Friday, June 13, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Holly Anderle officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in First Baptist Church, 3117 Lathrop Ave., on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. In memory of Nadia, memorials to her beloved First Baptist Church have been suggested.

To our Dad…..you truly lived up to your vows of “for better or worse.” You were not only Mom’s husband and best-friend, but her tireless caretaker as well - placing her every need before your own. We love you!
