Earl F. Decker

Earl F. Decker, age 95, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010, at Ridgewood Care Center. Earl was born in Racine, June 9, 1914, son of the late Arthur and Marie (Nee: Kucera) Decker.

On June 26, 1937, he was united in marriage to Mary M. Taggart, who preceded him in death on May 6, 1974. Earl was employed by S.C. Johnson Wax for thirty-nine years, retiring in 1977. He was a longtime member and usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church, member of the Catholic Men’s and S.C. Johnson “20-Year Club.” Above all he will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his children, Patrick (Betty) Decker, Thomas (Joanne) Decker, Kathleen Pfefferle, Daniel (Cindy) Decker, Michael Decker (Joye Landish); 12 grandchildren;18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; special great-niece “Pen Pal” Laurie Kirby; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his son, James; sisters, Margaret (John) Cunningham, Dorothy (Clare) McGrath; stepmother, Meta; and special friend, Stella Hartman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 14, 2010, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., with Rev. John D. Aiello officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. and Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 10 a.m. Memorials to St Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie Street, Racine, WI 53402 have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Ridgewood Care Center and Odyssey Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
