Surrounded by her loving family, Elizabeth J. Murphy, age 89, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at the Elizabeth Residence in Caledonia. Betty was born in Park Falls, WI, August 25, 1920, daughter of the late Jonas and Ethel (Nee: Jensen) Biller.
On December 2, 1954, she was united in marriage to Raymond L. Murphy, who preceded her in death, May 11, 1987. Betty was employed by Gateway Technical College for twenty-two years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church. Betty will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her stepchildren and spouses, Josephine H. (C. John) Mata of Racine, Paula J. Haag of Kansasville, Cecelia M. Jacoby of Racine, Karon Murphy of Sturtevant, Michael (Kathy) Murphy of Racine;11 step-grandchildren, many step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, Raymond, Betty was also preceded in death by her stepson, George, and her step-granddaughter, Kimberly Murphy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Ave., Monday June 28, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Ronald J. Gramza officiating. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. Memorials to St. Richard Catholic Church or to the American Diabetes Association have been suggested.
