Katherine Kay (Christoplis) Gorsky

Katherine Kay Gorsky, age 62, was taken from us tragically on Sunday, June 27, 2010. She was born on September 20, 1947 in Sheboygan, WI, the daughter of John and Ann (Wolff) Christoplis.

Katherine was a proud graduate of Park High School. Katherine was employed with various hair salons in the Racine area before opening her own salon “The Mane Place” on Spring Street.

On September 9, 1984, Katherine was united in marriage to the love of her life, Guy Gorsky in Racine. They moved to Austin, Texas, where she pursued her career as a hair stylist until the late 1990s when they moved to the Green Lake area so she could take care of her ailing mother.

For many years Katherine was a hair stylist for Tangles Hair Salon and Spa in Middleton. Katherine loved archery, racket ball, photography and motorcycling. She also loved tending to her gardens and having fresh flowers in the house. Most of all, Katherine cherished her time spent with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Guy Gorsky of Madison; her father, Johnny Christoplis; a sister, Shirley (David) Feehrer; and two brothers, Nick (Sue) Christoplis and Jim (Lynn) Christoplis all of Racine; nieces, nephews, Todd, Nicole, Keith, Tara, Cassandra, and Peter; great-nieces, Jessica, Melissa, Sydney, Mercedez, Norah and Avangelina; other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother Ann, and her niece Kristina.

A memorial gathering will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison, on Saturday, July 10, 2010, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. A memorial service and gathering will be held at a later date at Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home in Racine, WI. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for individuals who have catastrophic diseases or for accident victims.

Guy would like to extend a special thank you to the first responders to the accident scene and to the staff at University Hospital for all care and compassion given during such a difficult time.

“Katherine, you’ll forever be loved and missed by so many.”

Words cannot express the sadness my family and myself feel. The time my family spent with Kathy and Guy in Racine, and Austin, were some of the best times in our lives. Kathy was a special person, and now has her wings. A true Angel. Guy, and Kathy's family, please accept our most sincere condolences and sympathy.
