Thomas 'Tooty' E. Toutant

Thomas “Tooty” E. Toutant, age 58, passed away Monday, August 23, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. Thomas was born in Racine, March 1, 1952, son of the late Earl and Lucille (Nee: Kohel) Toutant.

During the Vietnam War Thomas proudly served in the United States Army. On June 11, 1977, he was united in marriage to Jeanette M. Andersen. He was employed as an electrician by Jacobson for twenty-nine years and last employed by Chrysler. Thomas was a member of the UAW Racine Local 556 and Illinois Local 1268. He helped chaperone the Boy Scouts and the Lighthouse Brigade. Thomas was an avid bowler, great outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and an outstanding handyman and mechanic. Above all he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of thirty-three years, Jeanette; his three children, Luke Toutant, Keri Toutant, Megin (Mark) Jorgensen, all of Racine; his grandson, Malaki; sisters, Linda (Greg) St. Martin, Judy Maki; brothers, Jeff (Kim) Toutant, Tim (Sandy) Toutant, Bruce (Kara) Toutant; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Maryclaire (Brian) Andersen-Karas, Don Andersen, Joe Andersen, John (Mary) Andersen; special friends, Jerry (Carol) Johansen, Gary (Lorraine) Kennedy, Al (Debbie) Wentzell; his faithful companions, Mushko, Pudge, Mydas and Zoe; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 30, 2010, at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m. Interment with full military honors will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Memorials to the family have been suggested.
