LeRoy O. Ellertson

Caledonia -- LeRoy Orval Ellertson, age 86, passed away during his favorite month, Thursday, October 4, 2012, at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee.  He was born January 7, 1926,  in Alden, WI, son of the late Martin and Caroline (Nee: Froseth) Ellertson.

LeRoy served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in both the European and Pacific Theatres.  On November 25, 1948, in Amery, WI, he was united in marriage to Dorothy E. Savina and they moved to Caledonia in 1957.  He was a journeyman electrician retiring from Local 494.   LeRoy loved gardening, carpentry, the computer and reading.  He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Dorothy; seven children, Mary Overmyer of Milwaukee, Barbara (Dick) Wesle of Stetsonville, WI, Kathryn Hovelson of Lakeland, FL, Mikkel Ellertson of Milwaukee, Gary (Kathy) Ellertson of Pleasant Prairie, Therese (Greg) Hudziak of Muskego, Marty Ellertson of Peoria, AZ; daughters-in-law, Cindy Algiers and Tina Ellertson;  17 grandchildren;  21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Verlyn Ellertson and Duane (Milly) Ellertson; sisters-in-law and brother in-law, Kathleen Ellertson, Beverly Ellertson, Dolores (Bob) Fuller, Diane Craine, Shirley Savina; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jhordis (Herman) Boettcher; two brothers, Bjarney (Alice) Ellertson and  Stanley Ellertson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Jim Zdeb officiating.  Interment with full military honors will follow at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.  Memorials to St. Louis Catholic Church Food Pantry have been suggested.
