MaryAnn (Sides) Ashley

MaryAnn Ashley, age 74, passed away after a long battle with cancer on October 10, 2012, in Kansas City, Missouri.  MaryAnn was born in Richmond, VA, on February 23, 1938, daughter of the late Leon D. and Ruby L.  (Nee:  Peacock) Sides.

MaryAnn was employed as a paralegal at Outboard Marine Corp. for seventeen years until her retirement in 2000.  MaryAnn enjoyed reading, knitting and sewing, watching the Packers and Bears, and spending time at the beach. She cherished and loved caring for her family, especially her grandchildren.  She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Gwendolyn (Don) Wilson of Lenexa, KS, Suzanne (Phill) Kroes of Racine; her five grandchildren, Jacob Wilson, Natalie Wilson, Peter Kroes, Haley Kroes and Donna Suzanne Wilson; sister, Jacquelyn Poteat of Salisbury, NC; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 20, at 2 p.m. at Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home in Racine.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

An additional Memorial Service will be held in Kansas on Saturday, November 3, at 9:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Parish in Shawnee.

Memorials to Elizabeth Residence 5737 Erie St., Racine, WI  53402 or Hospice House have been suggested.

The family would like to thank the staff at Elizabeth Residence and the Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd.,  Kansas City, MO  64135, for their kind and compassionate care of MaryAnn during her illness.
