Glenn A. Battles

Surrounded by the love of his family, Glenn A. Battles, age 68, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at his residence. Glenn was born in Holcomb, MO, June 21, 1941, son of the late John and Maxine (Nee:McGrew) Battles.

He graduated from Senath High School “Class of 1959” in Senath, MO. He moved to Racine and on January 19, 1963, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Theresa R. Rivera. Glenn was a member of Teamsters Local 200 employed as a truck driver for 44 years last driving for U.S. Holland. He was proud to log over 5 million accident-free miles. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, computer work, dancing, dabbling in day trading and his travels to 44 states. Most of all it was time spent with his family that he treasured most. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Theresa; three children, Loretta Parsons–Mayer and husband Robert Mayer of Racine, Todd (Michelle) Battles of Milwaukee, Mark (Tracy) Battles of Orlando, FL; six  grandchildren, Erika Parsons (fiancĂ© Michael Maxwell), Alex J. Parsons, Tailor Mayer, Brandon Battles, Samantha Battles, and Zachary Battles; great-grandchildren, Eva, Gabriella, and Julessa; brothers and sisters, Bill (Carol) Battles of Richardson, TX, Johnnie Faye Gurley of Kennett, MO, Larry (Mary) Battles of Kelso, TN, Gary (Juanita) Battles of Garland, TX, Randy (Marilyn) Battles of Kenosha, WI, Angela Battles of Kennett, MO; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kathy Battles of Gonzales, LA, Rita Battles of Bristol, WI, Debbie Battles of Bloomfield, MO, Nora Shaughnessy, Eva (Hank) Hackstein, Gene (Joanne) Rivera, Marian (Adam) Barootian, Ida (Roger)Erickson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, dear friends, and his beloved cat, Pokey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Elizabeth; brothers, Kenneth, Gerald, and David; and brother-in-law, Gary Gurley.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Chaplain Terry Peterson officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the funeral home from noon. until time of service. Memorials to the Daily Dunklin Activities Center, 320 Kennett St, Kennett, MO 63857 have been suggested.

Stephen E. Salas

Stephen E. Salas, age 61, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Wheaton-Franciscan All Saints Medical Center.  Steve was born in Kenosha on January 10, 1949, son of the late Valente and Josephine (Nee:  Esquivel) Salas and had been a resident of Racine since 1969.

On August 10, 2007, at St. Mary’s Hospital Chapel he was united in marriage to Rose Marie Gutierrez.  He was employed by Harris Metals for ten years and by Pioneer Products for the past ten years.   Steve was a member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church.  He was an avid Chicago sports fan.  Most of all, he loved spending time with family, especially his nieces and nephews.  He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie; his six brothers and sisters, Hortencia  (Manuel) Avila, Stella (Nicholas) Sanchez, Jesse (Julie) Salas, Joseph Salas, Rosa (Antonio) Saldana, Frank Salas; brothers-in-law, Eusebio Rangel, Jose Rangel, Patrick Rangel; special Aunt, Frances Sanchez; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant brother, Gabriel; nephew, Anthony Saldana; and niece, Sylvia Sanchez.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 5, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 801 College Ave., with Rev. Roberto J. McGlinn officiating.  Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery, Kenosha, WI.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the church from 11 a.m. until time of Mass.

William 'Bill Charlie' Kuiper

William Charles Kuiper, 88, was called home to his Heavenly Father on Monday March 29, 2010, at his residence with his loving and devoted family by his side.

William was born in Racine on October 9, 1921, the son of Charles and Esther (nee: Reyenga) Kuiper. He was united in marriage to Alice Slager in Racine on December 18, 1942, at Racine Christian Reformed Church. Bill was a successful self-employed dairy and crop farmer along with the help of his wife and daughters, retiring at the age of 75.

He was a dedicated and life-long member of Racine Christian Reformed Church and served as church deacon along with attending men’s forum Bible study in his younger years. Bill attended Racine Christian School and was a member of the Christian School Society.

He touched many lives and radiated warmth and love to all who knew him. Our dad, grandpa and great grandpa was a very fun-loving, affectionate man who enjoyed meeting people and more than anything enjoyed spending time with his family.

Bill is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 67 years, Alice; four daughters, Joyce (Melvin) of Lakefield, Canada, Nancy (Clarence “Clary”) Kuiper of Racine, Jerreleen “Jeri”(Jaap) Kroes of Leighton, Iowa, Shelly (Randy) Friesema of Racine; one sister, Nellie (Harry) Kingsfield of Franksville. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Tami, Angie, Julie, Kevin, Lori, Ryan, Daniel, Katie and Kellie, nine great-grandchildren, Shelby, Riley, Lola, David, Dylan, Haley, William, Alex and Julianna; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard; two sisters, Winnie and Elsie; three sons-in-law, Gary, David and Ken.

Services honoring and celebrating Bill’s life will be held at Racine Christian Reformed Church, 900 Illinois St., on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Doug Aldrink officiating. Bill will be laid to rest at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at Sturino Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Racine Christian School, Care Net Family Resource Center, 2405 Northwestern Ave. Racine, WI   53404 have been suggested.

William 'Bill' A. Schultz Sr.

William A. Schultz Sr., “Bill,” age 83, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2010.  Bill was born in Racine, August 12, 1926, son of the late Arthur and Edna (Nee: Kappel) Schultz.

Bill attended Washington Park High School and was a graduate of the Western Pennsylvania Horological Institute.  On August 17, 1946, he was united in marriage to LaVerne L. Qualler.  Bill and LaVerne owned and operated Schultz Jewelers of Racine for over forty years.  He was actively involved with both the Uptown and West Racine Business Associations.  Bill was a member of the Racine Kiwanis Club, serving as president of the Club and Governor of the Wisconsin region.  He also was the premiere Kiltie bus driver for many years.  Bill enjoyed antique cars, parades, neighbors, countless friends and telling stories.  Most of all he loved spending time and traveling with his family; his proudest retirement achievement was bragging of traveling to all 50 states and 30 foreign countries.  He will be deeply missed. 

Survivors include his wife, LaVerne; his children, William A. (Lynnette) Schultz Jr. of Chandler, AZ, Denise Schultz of Eden Prairie, MN; sister, Diane (Ken) Schaefer of Rockford, IL; sisters-in-law, Beverly (Chuck) Evans of Crossville, TN and Marjorie Short of Sydney, Australia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly (Ron) Eccelston. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 12, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Brad Van Fossen officiating.  Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.   Relatives and friends may meet at the funeral home Sunday, April 11, from  3-6 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service.  Memorials to Becker-Shoop Center and Hospice Alliance have been suggested.

Lawrence E. Flynn

Lawrence Edward Flynn passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, March 28, 2010. “Larry” was born in Caledonia to John H. and Josephine Flynn (Latka) on February 13, 1927. He attended St. Rose School as well as Hoods Creek School and graduated from Horlick High in 1945.

He served the U.S. Army in occupied Japan from 1946 to 1948. In 1949 he married Joan M. Ireland and dedicated his time to family and public service. Larry worked as a detective for the Racine County Sheriff’s Department where he helped form the Junior Deputy Association. In 1966 he opened the Flynn Detective Agency.

From 1974 to 1992, he was elected as Clerk of Circuit Courts. He graduated in 1980 as a Fellow of the Institute of Court Management. Larry served in the Naval Reserve and was a member of the VFW. He participated actively in The Democratic Party and received the Jim Arena award in 1998 for his deserving service. After 18 years in office he retired and devoted his remaining years to his wife, family and his garden.

Larry will be missed by Joan, his loving wife of 61 years; their nine children and their spouses, John (Michael Novak), Gary (Annemarie), Prof. Maureen (Dr. William Schara), Mark (Christine), Matthew (Annette), Patrick (Mindy), Michael (Leslie), Kevin (Tina) and Katy (John Wisch); 22 grandchildren, Dennis (Nicole), Quinn, Devon, Kai, Nathan, Nolan, Logan, Liam, Madison, Maison, Madelyn, Marley, Landon, Katelyn, Collin, Reilly, Meghan, Lindsey, Lauren, McKenna, Teaghan and Kamryn; as well as his sister, Kathleen Johansen.

Leona M. (Dacquisto) LaFave

Leona M. LaFave, age 88. passed away Sunday, March 28, 2010, at the Kenosha United Hospital. Leona was born in Racine, May 28, 1921, daughter of the late John and Stella (Nee: Jack) Dacquisto.

On April 29, 1947, Leona was united in marriage to Robert F. LaFave who preceded her in death, November 27, 1992. Leona was employed by Eagle Luggage for twenty-five years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and Lincoln Village Auxiliary. Leona enjoyed crafts, a challenging game of cards, and traveling with her family, especially her family retreats to Shawano. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Lonnie (Nickolas) Echeverria of Racine; her four sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas LaFave of Kenosha, WI, Lawrence LaFave of Kenosha, WI, Robert (Janice) LaFave of Fountain Hills, AZ, Timothy (Kathy) LaFave of Muskego, WI; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Tillie Goins of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ann; brothers, Tony and Nick Dacquisto; and sister, Frances Eschmann.

John Meldgaard

John A. Meldgaard, 68, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 28, 2010.  He passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family.  He was born in Racine on March 4, 1942, the son of Jerome and Mae (nee: Lembke) Meldgaard.  On October 4, 1969, he was united in marriage to Shirley Anderson at Franksville United Methodist Church.

John was a Boy Scout and attended the Scout World Jubilee in Sutton Park, Warwickshire, England, in 1957.  He graduated from Washington Park High School in 1960.  In 1964, he worked at the New York World’s Fair at the Golden Rondelle.  John attended the University of Florida – Gainesville and was a co-op student with NASA on the Saturn C-1 flight vehicle in Huntsville, AL, and Allis-Chalmers.  He received his engineering degree from Marquette University in 1967.  John was employed by SC Johnson for 38 years, retiring in August 2007.

John’s true love was Jesus Christ.  He studied God’s word diligently and his faith in action was readily apparent to others.  His quiet radiance and Godly, humble, caring nature drew others to him like a magnet as he shared his faith.  Those of us who knew John were privileged and blessed to have known him.  John’s deepest and earnest desire was to honor and glorify God.

John loved his family and is survived by Shirley, his wife of 40 years; daughter, Sara (Scott) McDonald; son Mark (Rebecca Moe) Meldgaard; and son, Eric Meldgaard; four grandchildren, Clara and Annelise McDonald, Hannah and Aiden Meldgaard; sister, Gail (Lee) Pullen; mother-in-law, Anna Anderson; sister-in-law, Carol (Roger) Exner; brother-in-law, Gary (Kathy) Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Carl Anderson, Jr.; aunt and uncle, Janet and Willard Lembke, aunt and uncle, Ruth and Lloyd Doenier; and cousin Karen Brown.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ritch and his staff at the Froedtert Cancer Clinic; members of Grace Church; and the many friends and family who helped pray and care for John.

George P. Karas

George P. Karas, 89, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Wheaton-Franciscan Hospital.

George Karas was born in South Milwaukee, WI, on April 10, 1920, to Peter and Akrive Karas.  The family moved to Racine in 1935 and he graduated from Park High School “Class of 1938.”  He entered the service in 1942 and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Air Corps in November 1945.

In 1944 he was united in marriage to Kathryn Filandrinos in Racine, and has lived in Racine his entire married life.

He graduated from Marquette Engineering School in May 1949 and was employed at several major companies in Racine and Milwaukee before retiring from Modine Manufacturing Co. in 1985.

He was a former member of Tau Beta Pi and Masonic Lodge 92, Milwaukee Scottish Rite, and Milwaukee Tripoli Shrine, and a long time member of Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church in Racine.

In retirement George enjoyed gardening and maintaining his yard as well as keeping up with current events.  His greatest joy was spending time with his family and offering his wisdom and assistance throughout their lives.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Kathryn (Filandrinos); his daughters, Kaye (William) Nelson of Vancouver, WA, Jane Karas of Racine; his sons, Paul Karas of Milwaukee, Dean (Peg) Karas of Chocowinity, NC, and Pete Karas of Racine.  He was an adored Papou to Halley Karas, Bradley Karas, Susan Guthrie, and Mike Palecek.  He is also survived by his sisters, Christine Rigas of California and Angie Thomas of Racine along with many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Emily Bonos.

Private funeral services were held with full military honors and burial at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover.  Memorials to Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church have been suggested.

Mildred ‘Mickie’ Tishken

PHOENIX, ARIZONA – Mildred ‘Mickie’ (nee: Droysen) Tishken, 89, formerly of Racine, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2010.

She had been a lifelong resident of Racine, until moving to Phoenix six years ago.  Born on April 15, 1920, the daughter of William and Gladys (nee: Collin) Droysen.  On December 23, 1939, Mickie was united in marriage to John Tishken.  She had been employed with Racine Unified School District as a school crossing guard until her retirement in 1997.  Mickie was a member and a past president of Racine County Extension Homemakers Council.  She loved to travel and had a passion for reading and was a loyal Cubs fan.

Surviving are her children; Virginia (Dr. Tom) Lange of Maplewood, MN, James (Judy) Tishken, Richard (Gail) Tishken all of Racine, Patricia (Dan) Duffey of Phoenix, AZ,  and Jonathan Tishken of Maplewood, MN.  She enjoyed the love and affection of 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mickie was preceded in death by her husband, John Tishken, in August of 1999; son, Charles Tishken in 2004; and grandson, John M. Lange in 2005.

Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at  11 a.m. with Rev. Don Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.  There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until service time.

Thomas William Kiley

Thomas W. Kiley, 68, passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital following a brief illness.

Thomas William was born in Racine to the late Manton and Jessie (nee: Rosinski) Kiley on April 3, 1941, and lived in Racine his whole life. In Gautier, Mississippi, he was united in marriage to Lyn Belden on December 27, 1969.

Mr. Kiley was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church. He was a member of the Royal Order of the Moose, Lodge No. 437. Mr. Kiley retired from S.C. Johnson & Son in 1992, and then worked for Cooper Industries until 1999 and for Omni, Inc. until 2007.

Tom was active in the Boy Scouts of America for 25 years, serving on Troop 161 committee for nearly 20 years and serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster up to the time of his death. Tom’s primary focus was to help young scouts achieve the rank of First Class, which he truly loved. Many scouts will remember him as the person who taught them how to tie their first knots, do basic first aid and get their feet wet. Tom was also active in council and district positions over the years. He served on the District Jamboree committee and attended the National Jamboree in 1993. He also served on the District Advancement committee and as a Commissioner.

Tom is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lyn; his son, Phillip W. (Tammi) Kiley; two sisters, Lillian (Val) Pawlowski and Diane (Michael) Dunk; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Manuel and Janet (Roger) Robichaux; one brother-in-law, William (Kathie) Belden; his mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Belden; two aunts, Jody Belden and Helen Karwowski; many relatives and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Manton and Jesse Kiley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave., on Monday, March 29, 2010, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday evening, March 28, 2010, from 5 until 7 p.m. and at the church on Monday morning from 10 until the time of Mass. Sister Mary Bede Reisinger, O.P.

Sister Mary Bede Reisinger, O.P., 95, passed away at Siena Center, Racine, on Thursday March 25, 2010.

Sophie Veronica Reisinger was born October 22, 1914, to Alois and Theresa (nee: Roth) Reisinger in Plain, WI. On February 1, 1935, she joined the Racine Dominicans and at her reception in August 1935 she was given the religious name Sister Mary Bede. She professed her first vows in 1937 and her final vows in 1943.

Sister Mary Bede spent many years in service to others in food service, sewing and gardening. She began her ministry in 1935 at St. Catherine Convent, Racine, WI. Other places in Wisconsin where she served were St. Edward, Racine; St. John, South Milwaukee; and Our Lady of the Oaks, Pewaukee. She also served at St. Clement’s, Centerline, MI; Our Lady of Guadalupe, Santa Fe, NM, and the Dominican House of Studies in River Forest, Illinois. She moved to Siena Center in 1989.

Sister Mary Bede is survived by the Racine Dominican Sisters and Associates; her brother, John (Catherine); her sisters, Catherine Maier, Ann (Albert) Maier, Clara Pertzborn and Helene (Venance) Dederich; sister-in law, Ann, Lucille and Emily Reisinger; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Edward, Alois, Joseph, William, Albert and Herman; and her sisters, Marie Dischler and Tillie Bindl.

Visitation will be in the Siena Center Chapel on Saturday March 27, 2010, beginning at 9 a.m. with a Remembering Service at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy 32. Memorials to the Racine Dominican Mission Fund have been suggested.

Kenneth G. Anclam

Kenneth G. Anclam, age 88, passed away March 24, 2010, at Ridgewood Care Center.  Kenneth was born in Racine, February 10, 1922, son of Otto and Eva (Nee:  Pfleger) Anclam.

During World War II, Kenneth proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Summit while stationed in the Pacific Theater. On September 17, 1949, in Racine, he was united in marriage to Josephine Stretti.  Kenneth was employed by Young Radiator for fifteen years and then by Modine Manufacturing for over twenty-five years, retiring in 1986.  Kenneth volunteered for many years with Special Olympics.  He treasured time spent with his family camping and traveling.  He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Josephine of Racine; his children, Jeffery (Patricia) Anclam of Cambridge, MN, Keith (Mary) Anclam,  of Racine; his three grandchildren, Justin (Cassandra) Anclam, Jacqueline Anclam, Thomas Anclam; sister, Harriet (Raymond) Carlson of Lancaster, PA; lifelong friend, Robert Repa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Sunday March 28, 2010, at 4 p.m., with Rev. John Fleming officiating.  Interment with Full Military Honors will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Sunday from 2 p.m. until time of service at 4 p.m.  Memorials to the Special Olympics have been suggested.

Ella H. Kramer

Ella H. (nee: Ernst) Kramer, 90, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care-All Saints on Wednesday March 24, 2010.

Ella was born in Racine on March 21, 1920, the daughter of Adolf and Minna (nee: Smilgir) Ernst. She was united in marriage to Carl Kramer on January 19, 1946, in Racine. Ella was a very active, lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She found great enjoyment and looked forward to her ladies night card-playing club, she also found great enjoyment in gardening, collecting recipes and baking.

Ella is survived by her children, Carole (Nick) Skover of Dousman, Kathleen (Guillermo) Arguello of Rochester, Minn., Carl (Mary) Kramer of Racine; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Kolatski, Eric Skover, Rebecca Skover, Robert (Heather) Arguello, JoAnna Arguello, and Michael Arguello, Matthew Kramer, Toni Wyman and Megan Kramer.

She is further survived by great-grandchildren, Elijah Kolatski, Kaitlyn Rose, Pierce Arguello, Razalyn Kramer and James Wyman; one sister, Dorothy Sparrow of Franksville; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Carl on December 10, 1995; two brothers, Herbert and Edward Ernst on June 9, 1993; and one sister, Adelia Riblett, on August 13, 2005.

Funeral services for Ella will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 3011 Erie St., located on the corner of Erie and Melvin Streets, on Wednesday March 31, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Diane Tetrault officiating. Ella will be laid to rest next to her husband Carl at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at Sturino Funeral Home on Tuesday March 30, 2010, from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and at church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church have been suggested.

William Clinton Ketchum

William C. Ketchum, 87, went home to be with his Lord on March 23, 2010.

William Clinton was born in Racine to the late Richard and Lulu (nee: Rutherford) Ketchum on December 20, 1922. He lived in Racine his whole life. He was united in marriage to Lolita Verl DeGarmo on September 5, 1942.

Bill retired from Twin Disc and was a member of the 20 year club. He was proud of his service to his country as a member of the Army Air Corps during WWII. Prior to his illness Mr. Ketchum was an active member of First Evangelical Free Church. He taught Sunday school, was the song leader and was in the church band. He was also involved in many other works of the church. He loved to sing and play his harmonica and enjoyed fishing. He was an avid sports fan especially the Packers and the Brewers. Mr. Ketchum was a very giving person and he is loved very much by his family and friends.

William is survived by his wife, Lolita; three daughters, Lynda (Randy) Worden, Barbara Christoffersen, and Vicki (John) Thorpe; five grandchildren, Michelle and Michael Worden, Daniel Christoffersen, Julie (Steve) Pearson and JD (Misty) Thorpe; three great-grandchildren, Justin and Kylee Thorpe, and Francesca Sadek; three sisters, Ethel Priaulx, Lucille Gascoigne and Kathryn Covington; one brother-in-law, Cecil (Margaret) DeGarmo; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Carmen Leah Christoffersen; three brothers, Richard, Russell, and Truman Ketchum; and one sister, Mildred Ketchum

Pablo Amaya Jr.

Pablo Amaya Jr., 56, went to join his brothers, Ricky, O.C., and Danny in eternal life on Tuesday March 23, 2010. Pablo was a lifelong resident of Racine born on April 17, 1953, the son of Pablo and Eva (nee: Cruz) Amaya. He was a 1971 graduate of Washington Park High School.

Pablo loved to cook and was the Sous Chef at Casablanca de Mexico Restaurant and Lounge for seven years. He was an avid reader, sports enthusiast and Packer fan.

Pablo is survived by his parents, Pablo and Eva Amaya; two sons, Pablo Amaya III and Alfonso Amaya; three grandchildren, Pablo IV and twins, Marianna and Alexander; three brothers, Miguel (Pat), Albert and Bobby (fiance Angie Palacios); four sisters, Blanca (Tom) Amaya Webers, Rita (Chindo) Bocanegra, Alicia (James) Placencia and Anna Amaya-Tuinstra, all of Racine. He is further survived by aunts and uncles, Argentina Cruz, Theresa (Louis) Martinez, Juan Amaya, Estephana (Alfredo) Rodriguez, and Micaela Lopez; along with nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and other relatives and many dear friends.

Pablo was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard “Ricky” on June 15, 1991, Oscar “O.C.”, on August 22, 2003, and Daniel “Danny” on November 1, 2005; grandparents, Miguel and Sabina Amaya, Aurora and Francisco Cruz; niece, Eva Amaya; and great-nephew, Chico Kelley.

Mass of Christian Burial for Pablo will be celebrated at St. Richard’s Catholic Church, 1509 Grand Ave., on Friday, March 26, 2010, at 11a.m. with Rev. Ronald Gramza officiating. Gertrude 'Trudy' F. Zeman

Gertrude “Trudy” F. Zeman, age 93, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Angels Grace Hospice, Oconomowoc, WI. Trudy was born in Racine, November 2, 1916, daughter of the late Henry J. and Frances (Nee: Gilday) Danhauser.

On June 14, 1947, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Racine she was united in marriage to Orlaf S. Zeman who preceded her in death, January 26, 2004. She was employed by the Racine Court House for many years. She was a longtime member of St. Edward Catholic Church. Trudy loved reading, cross-stitch and knitting for her family which she enjoyed until her final days. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her three children, Kathleen Zeman of Muskego, WI, Mark (Karen) Zeman of Delafield, WI, Jane Zeman of Mukwonago, WI; her three grandchildren, Cory Moore, Justin Zeman, Nathan Zeman; three step-grandchildren, Caroline Onzik, Erich Onzik, Kristi Onzik; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Helen A. (Dlhopolcek) Weber

Helen A. Weber, age 88, passed away March 22, 2010 at Good Samaritan Scandia Village Nursing Home in Sister Bay, WI. Helen was born in Toledo, Ohio, on October 28, 1921, the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Dlhopolcek.

Helen moved to Racine, WI, in 1934 where she met and married Howard J. Weber on September 2, 1950.

Helen worked at Western Printing for many years until she was blessed with a son after 10 years of marriage. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and playing the organ.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Todd A. (Stacy) Weber of Baileys Harbor, WI; her granddaughter, Megan J. Weber of Sturgeon Bay, WI; her brother, Richard ( Irene) Dell of Racine, WI. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, in 2008.

Private funeral services and burial with her husband were held at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery,  in Union Grove, WI.

Edmund Riedner

FOND DU LAC - Edmund Riedner, 94, passed away March 22, 2010, at Manor Care Nursing home in Fond du Lac, WI. He was born February 12, 1916, in Miroslaw, Poland, to Gottfried and Lydia Riedner. On November 2, 1939, Edmund married Elsa Gross. Edmund and Elsa celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last fall. Ed and his family immigrated from West Germany to the U.S. in 1956 and lived in Union City, N.J.

For over 50 years, he lived and worked in Racine, WI. He was a long-time member of the German Church of God in Racine and later the First Church of God in Racine. During the last few years he attended Calvary Bible Church of Fond du Lac. His passion was tending to his vegetable garden on a small plot in back of his house. He also enjoyed playing his harmonica. His contagious smile will be missed.

Edmund is survived by his wife, Elsa; and four sons, Helmut (Ursula) of Edmonton, Canada, Herbert (Carol) of Fond du Lac, Horst (Ginny) of Union City, CA, and Manfred of Clear Lake, CA. He had four grandchildren, Sandra Weidner, Martin Riedner, Eric Riedner and Rebecca Riedner. He was the proud great-grandfather of triplets. Ed is also survived by two brothers and two sisters, all living in Germany.

Services will be held at First Church of God, 1650 Lathrop Ave., on Friday, March 26, 2010, at 11 a.m. Burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Arthur 'Art' Cadilli

Arthur “Art” Cadilli, age 58, passed away Monday, March 22, 2010. at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Milwaukee, WI. Art was born in Los Angeles, CA, May 19, 1951, son of Arthur Cadilli Sr. and Amelia Marquez.

Arthur received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from San Jose State University. He was a freelance artist who created window art and murals all around town. He was a member of F.O.E. Eagles Aerie #281. He loved music and played his harmonica with local bands. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his children, Antonio E. Cadilli (fiancee, Tokunbo Akinbodunges) and his mother, Christine Colby; Apolonia R. Cruz-Cadilli, Diego F. Cruz-Cadilli and their mother, Magdalena Cruz; his mother, Amelia Marquez of Los Angeles, CA; sisters and brothers, Mercedes Cadilli, Francisco (Regina) Cadilli, Herlinda Vasquez, Joseph Mosqueda, Yolanda (Joe) Duenas, Vicky Rodriguez, Amelia Nunez; best friends, Felix Pacheco, Danny Mangabat, Houston Pmon; other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Cadilli Sr.; two sisters, Patricia Pemebeton, and Rosalinda Ohm; and good friend, Rudy Madrid.

Roy C. Jacob

Franksville -- Roy C. Jacob, age 91, passed away Monday, March 22, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Caledonia, August 2, 1919, son of the late Charles and Mary (Nee: Geiger) Jacob.

During WWII Roy served in the U.S. Army and received the Purple Heart for being shot while fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. On September 20, 1945, he was united in marriage to Bernice H. Beres who preceded him in death on February 21, 2007. Roy was employed by Consolidated Freightways. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, was 4H leader, and was the founder and member of the Caledonia Schafskopf Club. He enjoyed auctions, collecting toy tractors, and loved to garden, raising vegetables. Most of all he enjoyed the time spent with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grant father who will be dearly missed.

Lyle K. Rigby

Lyle K. Rigby, 87, passed away at Lakeview Specialty Hospital on Monday, March 22, 2010.

Lyle was born in Racine on July 27, 1922, to James and Emma (Hare) Rigby. He served in the United States Marines in the South Pacific during WWII. Lyle married Janice Studey at Epiphany Lutheran Church on August 24, 1946. He was a Firefighter with the City of Racine Fire Department, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1977 after 28 years of service. Lyle was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, Racine Retired Firefighters and Retired Professional Firefighters of Wisconsin. In his free time Lyle enjoyed woodworking and fixing things for others.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Rigby; children; Kenneth (Carol) Rigby, Terry (Patricia) Rigby, Keith (Paula) Rigby and Joy (Jeffrey) Haubrich; grandchildren, Bradley (Lynne) Rigby, Betsy (Josh) Horvath, Melanie (George) Baumgardt, Kierstyn and Christian Haubrich; seven great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Maisie Anspaugh, Hope (Elton) Bertram, June (Lee) Phillips, Beverly Sterbin, and Gloria (Don) Took and sisters-in-law, Martha, Libby, and Peggy Rigby. Joseph W. Horvath Sr.

Joseph W. Horvath Sr., 87, passed away at HCR Manor Care, Kenosha, on Monday March 22, 2010. Joe was born in Racine on November 23, 1922, the son of Steve and Mary Horvath. He was united in marriage to Violet Jorgensen in Norman, Oklahoma, on November 13, 1943. Joe served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II earning the rank of Sergeant at the time of his honorable discharge.

He was a tool and die maker for Sterling Company, Badger Company and retired from Frost Company after many years of service. In his later years, Joe worked at Oh Dennis Saloon and Charcoal House, pre-cooking their famous ribs.

Joe is survived by two sons, Joseph (Maureen) Horvath of Savannah, Georgia, Gary Horvath of Racine; two sisters, Irene Smith of Franksville, Mary Kowalsky of Racine; and one brother, Steve Horvath Jr. of Racine. He is further survived by other relatives and many dear friends. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Violet, on March 25, 1990. Kris Kendall Christiansen

Kris K. Christiansen, 53, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday March 20, 2010. Kris was born in Racine on October 29, 1956, the son of Arnold and Agnes (nee: Holthe) Christiansen.

He was a graduate of Racine Lutheran High School “Class of 1974.” Kris was employed as a machinist at Thermal Transfer for over 13 years. He was a proud member of Pheasants Forever, The Eagle Lake Shooting Preserve and found great enjoyment in hunting and fishing in Door County.

Kris is survived by his sister, Freda (Allan) Roberts of Racine; two brothers, Arnie (Barbara) Christiansen of Franksville and Ralph (Cindy) Christiansen of Racine. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Kris was preceded in death by his father, Arnold, on September 27, 1993; mother, Agnes, on February 16, 2010; two nephews; and his canine companion and dear friend, Houston.

In keeping with Kris’s wishes, private services were held at Sturino Funeral Home. Kris was laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery next to his mother, Agnes.

Joseph Frank Petrusha

Joseph Frank Petrusha, age 97, died Saturday, March 20, 2010. He was born on October 29, 1912, in Ironwood, MI. Joe was an army sergeant in Europe during WWII. He was employed by Western Publishing for 28 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, June (nee Barnaby); and daughter, Cathleen. Loving father of Christine (Charles) Pope of Vero Beach, FL; Diane (Greg) Wagner of Dallas, TX; Deborah (Richard Reuter) Petrusha of Milwaukee, WI; Joseph (Elizabeth) Petrusha Jr. of New Berlin, WI. Russell T. Johnson

Russell T. Johnson, 83, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care-All Saints on Saturday March 20, 2010. Russell was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on November 24, 1926, the son of Russell M. and Roma (nee: Tobin) Johnson.

He was united in marriage to Emma Hansen on May 22, 1954, in Racine at Trinity United Methodist Church. Russell had been employed at Hamilton Beach and Massey Ferguson for many years. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II, stationed in the Philippines, and earned the rank of sergeant at the time of his honorable discharge.

Russell was an active and faithful member of Faith United Methodist Church for many years. In addition he was very involved with the Democratic Party. Russell volunteered at Winslow Elementary School and Racine County Jail as a tutor and was active with the CROP Walk associated with Faith United Methodist Church. During the Civil Rights Movement Russell was very involved with Project Breakthrough.

Russell is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Emma; their children, Karen (Glenn) Hickson, Heidi Johnson and Mark Russell Johnson all of Racine; grandchildren, Carrie Dygon of Kenosha and Michael Dygon of Racine; nephew, Robert (Diane) Johnson Jr.; cousins, Marceline Turkowski, Jim and Jane Colotta and Dennis Colotta all of Racine. He is further survived by other relatives and many dear friends.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Robert Johnson.

Funeral services for Russell will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, 1013 Harmony Drive, on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Listowel Mensah and Rev. Lois Grebe officiating. Russell will be laid to rest at West Lawn Memorial Park following services. John S. Kis

John S. Kis, 88, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010, at WFH-All Saints.

John was born in Racine to the late John and Sophie (nee: Kowbel) Kis on August 10, 1921, and lived his entire life in Racine. He was united in marriage to Ione (nee: Carpenter) on June 27, 1945. He was employed for many years as a plant manager at Webster Electric. John was a member of St. Edward’s Church and enjoyed fishing and swimming.

John is survived by his wife, Ione; three sons, John (Kathy) Kis, Robert (Barb) Kis, and Gary (Laurie) Kis; one daughter, Nancy (Thomas) Stougaard; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service for John Kis will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will be held at Graceland Cemetery at a later date.

Eva 'Vanjel' Zuniga

Ms. Eva Zuniga, 78, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at her daughter’s residence.

Eva was born on September 1, 1931, to Pedro and Hilaria (nee: Islas) Zuniga in Cd. Camargo, Tamps. Mexico. She then lived in Racine for many years. Eva was a devoted member of Cristo Rey Parish who enjoyed cooking, farming, and above all was a loving grandmother to all her grandchildren.

Eva is survived by her two daughters, Jennieta (Peter) Cortez and Diane Rodriguez; grandchildren, Samuel, Judith, Priscilla, Alexis and Reyna; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Arrabella, Isiah, Yessenia, Ricardo “Jr”, and Jazzmin; two sisters, Patricia Galaviz of San Marcos, TX, and Ramona (Manuel) Zenteno of Pasadena, TX, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by Dominga Rivera, Pedro Zuniga, and Vicenta Zuinga.

Paula J. (Krueger) Vojtko

Paula Jane Vojtko (Nee: Krueger), age 53, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital. Paula was born in Waupaca, WI, September 18, 1956, daughter of the late Paul and Carla (Nee: Miller) Krueger.

Paula was raised in Kenosha and graduated from Tremper High School “Class of 1975.” She had been employed in the transportation industry for many years. On December 14, 1985, she was united in marriage in Racine to James A. Vojtko. Paula was a talented artist in beadwork and knitting and will be remembered for her zest for life. She had been a loyal friend to many who enjoyed her sense of humor, easy-going personality and eagerness to help. Above all, she was a devoted wife and mother who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her husband, Jim; her beloved daughter, Kate; sister, Shirley (Jeff) Warnock of Kenosha; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lynda and Tom Quella of Necedah; stepson Doug (Becky) Vojtko of Racine; niece, Candi Quella; cousins, relatives and many dear friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 27, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Maresh-Meredith and Acklam Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Van Fossen officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Branimir Petrovic

Branimir Petrovic, 77, died unexpectedly at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare on Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

Branimir was born in Kragujevac, Serbia, on September 29, 1932, to Milos and Rajna Ivanic Petrovic. He married Milanka Jovanovic and immigrated to the United States with his family on May 25, 1968. Branimir worked as a machinist for Twin Disc until his retirement in 1997. He enjoyed gardening and served as treasurer of the church for the past 10 years.

Branimir is survived by his wife Milanka Petrovic; son, Michael (Barbara) Petrovic; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Thomas Petrovic: sister, Bosa Jankovic and her family; and brothers, Borisav Petrovic and Tomislav Petrovic and their families. He is also survived by cousins and other relatives in Serbia. Branimir was preceded in death by his parents.

Prayers will start at 9 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2010, in the funeral home followed by procession to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 826 State St., for services at 10 a.m. with Fr. Dragan Metrovic officiating. Interment ceremony will be held at Gracanica Serbian Monastery Cemetery in Third Lake, IL. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday Evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. The Mali Pomen will be held at 7 p.m.

Kenneth W. 'Bill' Nelson

Kenneth William “Bill” Nelson, age 74, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 16, 2010, at his residence. Kenneth was born in Racine on May 31, 1935, son of the late Charles W. and Aileen (nee: Kohtanen) Nelson.

He attended Washington Park High School. During the Korean Conflict, Bill served in the U.S. Navy. Bill married the former Sally E. Hinen. He was self employed as a denture technician for many years. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Sally; children, Wendy (Dave) Smith, Wade Mitchell; grandchildren, Alexis Smith (Rich), Adam Smith (Rachel); brothers, Ray (Jean) Nelson, Allen (Angie) Nelson; sister-in-law, Betty Nelson, all of Racine; brother-in-law, Dennis (Karen) Hinen of Nashville, TN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by his step-daughter, Tori Mitchell; brother, Glenn; sister, Kathy Nelson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Peg Hinen.

Private family services will be held with interment to be held at Graceland Cemetery.

Michael William Beth

Michael W. Beth, 50, left this world unexpectedly at his home on Monday, March 15, 2010.

Michael was born in Racine to Elmer and Evelyn (nee: Hansen) Beth on December 2, 1959, and lived his entire life in Racine. He attended Hansche Elementary School and graduated from Park High School in 1975. After high school, he worked at Chrysler for over 30 years.

Mike enjoyed cooking, especially for cookouts, and loved spending time with his pet dogs. He excelled at repairing anything that needed fixing, including his “Sideway Walker,” a Chevy Blazer.

Mike is survived by his mother, Evelyn; four sisters, Dorothy Clark, Sandy Jackson, Roberta (Ken) Klingenmeyer and Judy (Bruce) Blaser; his brother, Brian (Carla) Beth; special friend, Barb Barth; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer William Beth; and two brothers-in-law, Ed Clark and James Jackson.

Funeral services for Michael will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 19, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Holly Anderle officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Thursday, March 18, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Roland Joseph Preeshl

Roland Joseph Preeshl, 90, passed away at Bickford in Oswego, IL, on March 15, 2010.

Roland was born in Glenwood City, WI, on July 18, 1919, to the late Joseph F. and Viola (nee: Cornellissen) Preeshl. He lived in Racine for over 50 years. He was united in marriage to the former Jeanne D. Purdy in LaCrosse on September 14, 1940. They were married for 62 years before she passed away on March 20, 2003. He served in the United States Army (1303 Army Corp of Engineers, Gen. Patton’s Mighty Midgets). He was co-owner with Bernie Odders of Odders and Co, retiring in 1964.

He was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church, 4th degree Knights of Columbus, enjoyed needlepoint, and woodworking, building beautiful furniture. He made Racine his home while here working on the construction of the Johnson Wax tower designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Penny (Tom) Bredemeier of Oswego, IL; three grandsons, Ben (Jenny) Bredemeier, Ryan (Tiffany) Desmond, Nick Desmond; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Desmond and Emily Bredemeier; one brother, Jim (Lois) Preeshl of Onalaska, WI; and one sister-in-law, Marilyn Carroll of LaCrosse, WI. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Jean Wilken,in January 2000; and three brothers, David, Robert and Richard Preeshl.

Funeral services will be held at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Mark Jones officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be held at Calvary Cemetery on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at 1 p.m. Memorials in memory of Mr. Preeshl to Badger Association for the Blind have been suggested.

Milton C. Gelenian Esq.

Milton C. Gelenian Esq., age 79, passed away Monday, March 15, 2010, at his residence in Germantown, MD. Milton was born in Racine, February 28, 1931, son of the late Eghia and Siranoush Gelenian.

Milton graduated from Wm Horlick High School “Class of 1949.” Milton attended University of Wisconsin-Madison, Roosevelt College, Chicago, IL, and graduated from Georgetown University Law School in 1958 following three years of service as a Marine Corps Sergeant in the Korean War. After graduation, he was the Office Manager for Senator William Proxmire and served as assistant corporation counsel for the Washington, D.C., government before entering private practice in 1961. He was a prominent lawyer with his own private practice specializing in Immigration Law in Washington, D.C. He has served as president of the D.C. Chapter and vice president on the national level of the American International Law Division, Immigration and Nationality Committee of the American Bar Association. He belonged to the Maryland, Wisconsin and Washington, D.C., Bar Associations. He has also served the Armenian Apostolic Church of America for whom he has traveled internationally as a U.S. delegate, and as a trustee for the Armenian Assembly of America.

Milton was the beloved husband of Seda (Nee: Khoyan) Gelenian; father of Knar (Armen) Mardirossian, and children Natalie, Aris, and Berj; Gigi Gelenian; Varak (Regla) Gelenian and children Alexander and Isis, Siran Gelenian. He is also survived by two sisters, Sonia (Sarkis) Buchaklian, Mary (Berj) Djibilian; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Lucy Gelenian, Rosemary Gelenian, Thelma Khoyan, Vahan (Linda) Khoyan; mother-in-law, Yertzgeen Sirarpi Khoyan; nieces, nephews, other close relatives and many dear friends throughout the United States, Canada and France. In addition to his parents, Milton was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, The Rev. Fr. Dickran Khoyan and his two brothers, Harry and Augie.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 22, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church, 4100 Newman Road, with Fr. Daniel Garabedian officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. Memorials to St. Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church have been suggested.

Samuel F. 'Sam' Pulice

Samuel F. “Sam” Pulice, 83, passed away surrounded by his loving family at Froedtert Memorial Hospital, Milwaukee, on Sunday March 14, 2010, after a long and courageous 30-day battle to overcome complications following surgery. Sam was born in Racine on September 19, 1926, the son of Frank and Francis (nee: Sesso) Pulice.

He was a graduate of William Horlick High School, “Class of 1945.” Sam was united in marriage to Rose Marie Litrenta at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Racine, on November 12, 1949.

He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1944 until 1947, stationed in the Philippines and Korea. Sam was a faithful member of Roma Lodge for 63 years, from 1947 until 2010, serving as president from 1967-1968 and 1995-1996. In 1969 he was honored, by receiving the Order of Sons of Italy “Man of the Year Award.”

Sam was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years, and was involved in the men’s choir, along with serving as church usher.

He was a dedicated employee of Western Publishing Company for 50 years, retiring in 1993 as General Foreman. Sam was a past president of Western Foreman’s Club. He also served as chairman of Western’s Needy Family Program, and was the recipient of the “Western Publishing Company President’s Award” for outstanding community volunteer service in 1992.

Sam and Rose Marie spent many winters in their Punta Gorda, Florida, home entertaining family and friends from Florida and Wisconsin. He was always up for a good game of bocce or golf in Racine or Florida. Sam was most affectionately known by his family as “The Mayor” and he affectionately referred to his girls as “His Dollies.”

Sam is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rose Marie; beloved children, Barbara (Andy) Solomon of Racine, Frank (Sandra) Pulice of Fort Meyers, FL., Patricia (Tom) Stindle, Thomas (Debbie) Pulice and Gina (Tad) Christensen, all of Racine. He is also survived by grandchildren, Scott (Jenny) Solomon of Evanston, IL, Frank Pulice of Birmingham, AL, and Micaela and Kendal Christensen of Racine. Sam is further survived by one sister, Rose (Alex) Bagdasarian of Racine; one brother-in-law, Rocco Litrenta; one sister-in-law, Loretta Parise; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends in Racine, Kenosha and Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Carmella; one brother, Guy; and one brother-in-law, Dominick Parise, on June 17, 2009.

Mass of Christian burial honoring and celebrating Sam’s life will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ronald Crewe presiding, and Rev. John Pulice and Rev. Jeff Thielen concelebrating. Sam will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32, with full military honors.

Visitation will be held at Sturino funeral home on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Roma Lodge Service at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a visitation at church on Thursday, before services from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, American Heart Assoc., 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231 or American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 902. Pewaukee, WI 53072 have been suggested by the Pulice family.
