Ruth A. (Woehl) Powell

Ruth A. Powell, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010, at United Hospital, Kenosha, WI. Ruth was born March 7, 1920, to Rev. H.L. and Emily (Nee: Kurtz) Woehl in Seattle, Washington.

Ruth was a graduate of Oconomowoc High School and attended Carroll College. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. She was employed by Lee’s Flowers for over thirty years. Ruth also served in various pre-school and Senior Drop In Centers for the City of Racine Parks and Recreation Department, as well as RSVP.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David TeVrucht; her granddaughters, Melissa (Scott) Eggert, Rachel (Jeremy) Thurman; her great-grandchildren, Brandon Fors, Ricky Caldwell, Thomas Eggert, Jeremy and Michael Thurman; her special friends, Demetra Jackson, Michael Morrison, and Tom Vance; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Mehnert and William Powell; and her grandson Sean Tevrucht.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 5, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 745 Main St., with Rev. Brad Van Fossen officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Private interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials to the First United Methodist Church have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at the Claridge House in Kenosha and the staff at Wheaton-Franciscan for their loving and compassionate care.
