Mary C. (DiChristopher) Hanson

Mary C. Hanson (nee: DiChristopher) age 95, passed away early Friday morning, March 5, 2010, at St. Monica’s Senior Citizen Home. Mary was born in Sykesville, PA, March 28, 1914, daughter of the late Ralph and Adelia (nee: Spadaforo) DiChristopher.

On August 23, 1941, Mary was united in marriage to Joseph G. Hanson in Dubuque, Iowa. After sixty years together, Joe preceded Mary in death May 17, 2001.

Mary’s life revolved around the love and care of her family and service to others. She was a devoted wife and mother and her homemaking skills were second to none. She loved to cook and bake and her famous spaghetti sauce recipe is still being circulated and enjoyed. As a doting grandma, Mary spent countless hours babysitting for her grandchildren while their parents worked. Later in life, she always kept up to date and involved in the lives of her great-grandchildren. Mary will be dearly missed by her family, friends and her extended family at St. Monica’s.

Survivors include her children, Kathryn (Ronald) Neider of Franksville, Carl (Kathy) Hanson of Canby, OR; grandchildren, Jonah Hanson, Natalie (Scott) Andryk, William (Lisa) Neider;
great-grandchildren, Alex and Sam Andryk, Emily and Abby Neider; sisters, Adeline Storck
of Racine, Hazel Sicilia of Kenosha; sister-in-law, Joyce Weber of Racine; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mary was also preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, John, Amedio, and Ralph Jr. DiChristopher.

Funeral services will be held at St. Monica’s Senior Citizen Home, 3920 N. Green Bay Rd., on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at 11 a.m., with Rev. James F. Peters officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at St. Monica’s from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorials to St. Monica’s Senior Citizen Home have been suggested.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at St. Monica’s and to Odyssey Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
