Bernice S. (Mikutis) Zemke

Bernice Stella Zemke, age 87, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center. She was born in Round Lake, IL, December 25, 1922, daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Nee: Mikysis) Mikutis.

On October 23, 1955, at St. Gilbert Catholic Church in Grays Lake she was united in marriage to Conrad W. Zemke. Bernice was employed as a LPN at St. Luke’s Hospital in Respiratory Care for 15 years. Previously Bernice was employed in pharmaceutical research with Abbott Laboratories in Great Lakes, IL. She was a former member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church. Bernice enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and needlework. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her husband of nearly 55 years, Conrad; daughters, Deborah (Dr. James) Wishau of Ft. Atkinson, WI, Denise (Dr. Thomas) Gallagher of Naperville, IL; three grandchildren, Nicholas Villers, Laura and Brian Gallagher; a sister, Frances Moberg of Racine; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Martha Mikutis and Veronica Severs.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Neil Partington officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet Wednesday at the funeral home 10 a.m. until time of service.
