Mary E. (Fieschko) Koneske

Mary Elizabeth Koneske, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. Mary was born in Racine on May 12, 1922, daughter of the late William B. and Julia (nee: Adesko) Fieschko.

She graduated from Washington Park High School in 1940. On August 9, 1941, Mary was united in marriage to Frank J. Koneske, who preceded her in death on May 13, 1995.

An excellent seamstress, Mary was employed with Rainfair for over thirty years. After her retirement, she continued to work “for fun” as a food demonstrator in many area grocery chains – her love of cooking, people and salesmanship shown through in her work, and she continued to take assignment calls until just three years ago!

Hard-working and fun-loving, Mary enjoyed camping and travelling with her husband, Frank, and regularly entertaining friends and family in their home. Mary was a longtime member of St. Edward Catholic Parish, and was active in fundraising events.

Being the youngest of eight children, she proved to be an understanding and patient caregiver for her older siblings in their later years. With no children of her own, her focus was her large family of siblings, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Above all it was the time spent with her family that she treasured most. She will be dearly missed by all.

Survivors include her brother, Joseph E. Fieschko of Lebanon, PA; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was also preceded in death by her siblings, Frank, John, Ted, Walter, Sophia and Bertha.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday Dec. 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Ave., with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. Private interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay respects Friday, Dec. 5, at the Maresh-Meredith and Acklam Funeral Home in Racine, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Edward’s Catholic Parish in Racine.
