Nancy E. (Lees) Petersen

Mt Pleasant -- Surrounded by her loving family at home, Nancy E. Petersen, age 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2014, following a forty-five year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Nancy was born in Racine on April 23, 1942, daughter of the late Andrew and Dorothy (Nee:Piette) Lees. She graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1960.”

On August 5, 1961, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to David J. Petersen. Together they raised three children, Kimberly, Tammy and Scott.

Nancy was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She was an avid Packers fan and in her earlier years she enjoyed bowling, fishing and golf. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved to sew. Through the years she took great joy in creating one of a kind clothes for all members of her family. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, David; children, Tammy (Michael) Lundgren of Mt. Pleasant, Scott (Amy) Petersen of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Joshua (fiancée Jenna), Jacob and Nicholas (Dalilla) Lundgren, Aaron and April Wilson, Michael and David Petersen; great-grandchildren, Gauge, Mason, Chevy, Jackson, Axel, Romeo, Scarlett, Emmett and Aaron Jr.; siblings, Judith Shilhavy of Sturtevant, Michael (Mary) Lees of Mt. Pleasant, Debra Lees of Racine; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly; grandchildren, Samantha and Nathaniel; and great-grandson, Nevin.

Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. and on Tuesday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., from 11:30 a.m. until noon. At noon a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Terry Huebner officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Memorials to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church or one’s favorite charity have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Wheaton Franciscan Hospice nurses Mary, Debbie, Kathy and Barb for their loving and compassionate care.
