Michael V. Murray

Michael V. Murray, age 54, joined his mother in Glory on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, after passing away suddenly at his home in Racine. Mike was born in Milwaukee, WI, on May 18, 1960, son of Martin V. Murray of Racine and the late Marie Murray (Nee: Tomes) and was a resident of Racine for most of his life.

Mike graduated from Horlick High School in 1978 and went on to attend college at Parkside in Kenosha where he received a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Math. After college Mike worked for many years at Postorino Decorating, then eventually took a position as a Purchasing Agent for The Home Depot, where he was employed for over 15 years.

Mike loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family; fishing, camping, hunting and walking his dog, Sadie. He also loved getting away to the family cabin in Winter, Wisconsin, where he would spend time canoeing, fishing, reading and just enjoying the Northwoods. Mike's tender heart and love of fishing led him to be a volunteer for several years with the Hayward chapter of Fishing Has No Boundaries, where he met many dear friends and made wonderful memories.

Mike is survived by his father, Martin V. Murray of Racine; brother, Dr. Mark A. Murray (Deb) of Hayward; nieces, Ashley Murray and Alyssa Murray; and nephew, Ryan Murray of Kenosha; Uncle Robert (Jean) Murray of Pittsburgh; Aunt Mary Murray of Pewaukee; several cousins, including Alice Murray of Racine; and many other relatives and dear friends.

In addition to his grandparents, Mike was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Marie Murray; maternal uncle, Adam Tomes; maternal aunt, Jeanette Mackett; paternal uncle, Don Murray; and cousin, Susan Murray.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in Racine. Relatives and friends may meet at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service for visitation and reflection. Memorials to Fishing Has No Boundaries have been suggested.
