Dorothy W. (Jung) Liertz, 85, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center on Thursday March 11, 2010. Dorothy was born in Racine on August 16, 1924, the daughter of Peter and Ella (nee: Criplean) Jung. She was united in marriage to Glenn Liertz on August 16, 1947, in Racine.
Dorothy was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1943.” She was employed at Zahn’s Dept. store as a photographer and was a Pin Up Girl for the U.S. Navy during WW II. Her biggest and most rewarding job was raising her eight children and her grandchildren. Dorothy found great enjoyment in sewing, reading and cooking.
Dorothy is survived by her eight children, Linda (Lee) Kowalsky of Issaquah, WA, Robert (Linda) Liertz fo Durham, NC, Gail (Fred) Prough of Reeseville, Kim (Terry) Seyller of Jim Falls, Keith (Patricia) Liertz, Larry Liertz, Tod Liertz and Scott Liertz, all of Racine. She is further survived by 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, on Oct 8, 2005; one grandson, Robert Prough in 1999; brother-in-law, Robert Liertz during WWII; and three sisters.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Monday March 15, 2010, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Samuelson officiating, Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her husband Glenn at West Lawn Memorial Park in a private ceremony. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Monday from 11:30 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m.
