Lyle K. Rigby, 87, passed away at Lakeview Specialty Hospital on Monday, March 22, 2010.
Lyle was born in Racine on July 27, 1922, to James and Emma (Hare) Rigby. He served in the United States Marines in the South Pacific during WWII. Lyle married Janice Studey at Epiphany Lutheran Church on August 24, 1946. He was a Firefighter with the City of Racine Fire Department, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1977 after 28 years of service. Lyle was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, Racine Retired Firefighters and Retired Professional Firefighters of Wisconsin. In his free time Lyle enjoyed woodworking and fixing things for others.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Rigby; children; Kenneth (Carol) Rigby, Terry (Patricia) Rigby, Keith (Paula) Rigby and Joy (Jeffrey) Haubrich; grandchildren, Bradley (Lynne) Rigby, Betsy (Josh) Horvath, Melanie (George) Baumgardt, Kierstyn and Christian Haubrich; seven great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Maisie Anspaugh, Hope (Elton) Bertram, June (Lee) Phillips, Beverly Sterbin, and Gloria (Don) Took and sisters-in-law, Martha, Libby, and Peggy Rigby. Lyle is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy (Art) Dykstra; brothers, Lloyd, Jimmy, Danny, and Matthew Rigby; and brothers-in-law, Fred Anspaugh and Frank Sterbin.
Funeral services for Lyle will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 26, 2010, at 7 p.m. Interment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Memorials to Epiphany Lutheran Church have been suggested.
