PHOENIX, ARIZONA – Mildred ‘Mickie’ (nee: Droysen) Tishken, 89, formerly of Racine, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2010.
She had been a lifelong resident of Racine, until moving to Phoenix six years ago. Born on April 15, 1920, the daughter of William and Gladys (nee: Collin) Droysen. On December 23, 1939, Mickie was united in marriage to John Tishken. She had been employed with Racine Unified School District as a school crossing guard until her retirement in 1997. Mickie was a member and a past president of Racine County Extension Homemakers Council. She loved to travel and had a passion for reading and was a loyal Cubs fan.
Surviving are her children; Virginia (Dr. Tom) Lange of Maplewood, MN, James (Judy) Tishken, Richard (Gail) Tishken all of Racine, Patricia (Dan) Duffey of Phoenix, AZ, and Jonathan Tishken of Maplewood, MN. She enjoyed the love and affection of 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mickie was preceded in death by her husband, John Tishken, in August of 1999; son, Charles Tishken in 2004; and grandson, John M. Lange in 2005.
Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until service time.
