William A. Schultz Sr., “Bill,” age 83, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2010. Bill was born in Racine, August 12, 1926, son of the late Arthur and Edna (Nee: Kappel) Schultz.
Bill attended Washington Park High School and was a graduate of the Western Pennsylvania Horological Institute. On August 17, 1946, he was united in marriage to LaVerne L. Qualler. Bill and LaVerne owned and operated Schultz Jewelers of Racine for over forty years. He was actively involved with both the Uptown and West Racine Business Associations. Bill was a member of the Racine Kiwanis Club, serving as president of the Club and Governor of the Wisconsin region. He also was the premiere Kiltie bus driver for many years. Bill enjoyed antique cars, parades, neighbors, countless friends and telling stories. Most of all he loved spending time and traveling with his family; his proudest retirement achievement was bragging of traveling to all 50 states and 30 foreign countries. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his wife, LaVerne; his children, William A. (Lynnette) Schultz Jr. of Chandler, AZ, Denise Schultz of Eden Prairie, MN; sister, Diane (Ken) Schaefer of Rockford, IL; sisters-in-law, Beverly (Chuck) Evans of Crossville, TN and Marjorie Short of Sydney, Australia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly (Ron) Eccelston.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 12, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Brad Van Fossen officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet at the funeral home Sunday, April 11, from 3-6 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorials to Becker-Shoop Center and Hospice Alliance have been suggested.
