Stephen E. Salas

Stephen E. Salas, age 61, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Wheaton-Franciscan All Saints Medical Center.  Steve was born in Kenosha on January 10, 1949, son of the late Valente and Josephine (Nee:  Esquivel) Salas and had been a resident of Racine since 1969.

On August 10, 2007, at St. Mary’s Hospital Chapel he was united in marriage to Rose Marie Gutierrez.  He was employed by Harris Metals for ten years and by Pioneer Products for the past ten years.   Steve was a member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church.  He was an avid Chicago sports fan.  Most of all, he loved spending time with family, especially his nieces and nephews.  He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie; his six brothers and sisters, Hortencia  (Manuel) Avila, Stella (Nicholas) Sanchez, Jesse (Julie) Salas, Joseph Salas, Rosa (Antonio) Saldana, Frank Salas; brothers-in-law, Eusebio Rangel, Jose Rangel, Patrick Rangel; special Aunt, Frances Sanchez; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant brother, Gabriel; nephew, Anthony Saldana; and niece, Sylvia Sanchez.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 5, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 801 College Ave., with Rev. Roberto J. McGlinn officiating.  Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery, Kenosha, WI.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the church from 11 a.m. until time of Mass.
