Glenn A. Battles

Surrounded by the love of his family, Glenn A. Battles, age 68, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at his residence. Glenn was born in Holcomb, MO, June 21, 1941, son of the late John and Maxine (Nee:McGrew) Battles.

He graduated from Senath High School “Class of 1959” in Senath, MO. He moved to Racine and on January 19, 1963, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Theresa R. Rivera. Glenn was a member of Teamsters Local 200 employed as a truck driver for 44 years last driving for U.S. Holland. He was proud to log over 5 million accident-free miles. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, computer work, dancing, dabbling in day trading and his travels to 44 states. Most of all it was time spent with his family that he treasured most. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Theresa; three children, Loretta Parsons–Mayer and husband Robert Mayer of Racine, Todd (Michelle) Battles of Milwaukee, Mark (Tracy) Battles of Orlando, FL; six  grandchildren, Erika Parsons (fiancĂ© Michael Maxwell), Alex J. Parsons, Tailor Mayer, Brandon Battles, Samantha Battles, and Zachary Battles; great-grandchildren, Eva, Gabriella, and Julessa; brothers and sisters, Bill (Carol) Battles of Richardson, TX, Johnnie Faye Gurley of Kennett, MO, Larry (Mary) Battles of Kelso, TN, Gary (Juanita) Battles of Garland, TX, Randy (Marilyn) Battles of Kenosha, WI, Angela Battles of Kennett, MO; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kathy Battles of Gonzales, LA, Rita Battles of Bristol, WI, Debbie Battles of Bloomfield, MO, Nora Shaughnessy, Eva (Hank) Hackstein, Gene (Joanne) Rivera, Marian (Adam) Barootian, Ida (Roger)Erickson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, dear friends, and his beloved cat, Pokey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Elizabeth; brothers, Kenneth, Gerald, and David; and brother-in-law, Gary Gurley.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Chaplain Terry Peterson officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the funeral home from noon. until time of service. Memorials to the Daily Dunklin Activities Center, 320 Kennett St, Kennett, MO 63857 have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Hospice Alliance, Chaplain Terry Peterson, Nurse Jackie G. and Dr. Mary Pagano and staff for their loving and compassionate care.
