Darrleen (Anderson) Veto

Darrleen Veto, age 84, passed away peacefully, Monday, February 22, 2010, at her daughter’s residence. Darrleen was born in Chinook, Montana, on April 7, 1925, daughter of the late William F. and Frieda G. (Nee: Kruse) Anderson.

On October 28, 1944, in Racine, WI, she was united in marriage to Melvin E. Veto, who preceded her in death, October 6, 1996. Darrleen was employed as a teller at the American Bank in downtown Racine for fourteen years. She then worked in the accounting department for Racine Unified School District Business Office for twenty-five years until she retired in 1987. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed bowling and gardening. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Ruth Ann (Milton) Trafton of Sun Prairie, WI; her granddaughter, Erica Trafton of Sun Prairie, WI; sister-in-law, Peggy Anderson of Racine; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lisa Marie Trafton; brothers, Orval H. (Harriet) Anderson, Max Anderson; sister, Bertha J. (Albert) Hass.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 26, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., with Rev. William J. Dietzler officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. Memorials to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for masses to be said have been suggested.
