Tomas A. Gonzalez

Tomas A. Gonzalez, age 76, passed away Friday, February 26, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Cotulla, TX, on February 25, 1934, son of the late Santiago and Manuela (Nee: Alejandro) Gonzalez.

On June 23, 1988, at Racine he was united in marriage to Silvia Arebalo. Tomas was employed by Racine Malleable for 38 years, retiring from Racine Steel in 1999. He also was a security guard at the Racine Airport for a number of years. Tomas and Silvia owned and operated Gonzalez Club for 13 years until 2001. He was a member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing pool, music and loved to dance. Tomas also cherished time spent with his many godchildren. Above all it was spending time with his family and friends that he treasured most. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Silvia; son and daughter-in-law, Juan (Elvia) Rodriguez of Racine; three grandchildren, Juan Jr., Florentino (Jane), and Rachel Marie; three great-grandchildren, Cyrus, Cassidy, and Corey; his god-daughter, Gabriella Gallegos; special friends, Tanya Chavez and daughters, Giselle and Georgiana; sister, Francisca (Ramiro) Ortiz of Racine; brothers, Santiago (Maria) Gonzalez and Arnulfo Gonzalez. all of Cotulla, TX; sister-in-law, Ydolina (Pedro) Borrego of Mundelein, IL; brother-in-law, Juan Rubio of San Antonio, TX; nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Oralia Ayala.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1100 Erie St., with Rev. Redolad Esteban officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at church.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Martini, and the staffs at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints ICU and the 6th St Dialysis for their loving and compassionate care given to Tomas.
