Viera, Florida - We celebrate the life of Marjorie Lois Wiersum, a lover of God, family, friends, cooking, and piano, who was called home to heaven last week on Monday, December 19, 2011.
Born and raised in Racine on April 15, 1927, Marjorie spent her last days in Viera, Florida near family, where she died of dementia and other complications. Her life was marked by joy, laughter, prayer and music. She was known as a gracious host, and took pleasure in entertaining friends and family for meals whenever possible. Renowned for her fabulous baking and hilarious storytelling, Marjorie was well-loved by all and truly loved others well.
Marjorie was an active member of Racine Bible Church until illness set in. In the past, her love of children led her to teach kindergarten at Union Grove Christian School and also to teach piano lessons out of her home for many years.
Marjorie is survived by her two sons and their families: Phil (Jamie) Holtje and Steve (Christine) Holtje; and grandchildren, Melissa Richeson, Celeste Ralston and Jordan Holtje. She was predeceased by her husbands, Hudson Holtje and Clyde Wiersum, and several dear friends who will gladly meet her in heaven.
Marjorie’s sparkle, charm, and devotion will be missed here on earth, but we rejoice that she is without a doubt in the presence of Jesus now.
Funeral services will be held at Racine Bible Church, Thursday, December 29, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. Private interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to Racine Bible Church, 12505 Spring St., Sturtevant, WI 53177.
