Surrounded by his loving family, Ronald H. Ferg, age 78, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan–All Saints Medical Center. Ron was born March 30, 1933, in Racine, son of the late Harold E. and Loretta M. (Nee: Slafter) Ferg.
Ron proudly served in the United States Army stationed in Japan from 1953-1955. On June 22, 1957, at St. Rose Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Mardell F. Waters. Ron was employed with Hamilton Beach for fifteen years and retired from In-Sink-Erator after thirty-five years of service. He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. An outdoorsman, Ron enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and his time spent in Shawano and Canada. He was also an avid fan of the Packers and Badgers. More than anything, he cherished his family and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-four years, Mardell; his children, Ronald (Julie) Ferg of Racine, Cathy Ferg of Union Grove, Cindi (Kevin) Bohn of Racine; his grandchildren, TJ (Megan) Jensen, Daniel Ferg, Adam (Lauren) Ferg, Stephany Jensen and Jonathan Ferg; his great-grandchildren, Levi and Brianna Jensen, Joey Garcia; stepmother, Nancy Ferg of Racine; sister and brothers, Phyllis (Ken) Buss of Hudson, FL, Dennis (Marilyn) Ferg of Racine, Donald (Linda) Taskonis of Baraboo, WI, Joel (Sharon) Taskonis of Columbia, KY, Philip Taskonis of Racine; sisters-in-law, Marlene Ferg of Racine, Laurie Taskonis of Burlington; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Colleen Ferg; his grandson, Zachary Jensen; brothers, Gerald and Harold Jr. Ferg, Roger and Larry Taskonis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 12, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Ave., with Rev. Allen Bratkkowski and Rev. Richard J. Molter concelebrating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Sunday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. and Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Colleen J. Ferg Memorial Scholarship Fund, UW-Eau Claire, or to the family have been suggested.
