Richard 'Dick' W. Steberl

Surrounded by his loving family, Richard “Dick” W. Steberl, age 82, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at his residence. Dick was born in Racine, January 27, 1929, son of the late Frank and Harriet (Nee: Westenberg) Steberl.

Dick was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1947.” On September 4, 1948, in Racine, he was united in marriage to Marie I. Bronson, who preceded him in death on May 28, 1990. He served with the United States Army in the I Corps as a lineman for two years, stationed in Uijeongbu, Korea. He considered it an honor to serve. Dick was employed by Porter's of Racine for fifty-six years; and considered his co-workers a second family. He retired in 1999. On June 12, 1993, he married Mary E. Terselic (Nee: Ludwig). He was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church. Dick loved cooking, fixing things, and enjoyed collecting fine clocks and watches. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; his children, Richard J. (Barbara) Steberl, Julie (Jim) Kaplan; grandchildren, Richard A. (Jenny) Steberl, Robert J. (Amanda) Steberl, Danny B. (Kaleigh) Steberl; five great-grandchildren, Gryphon T., Jareth D., Kaitlyn L., Arabella A., Owen R.; stepchildren, Mary S. Terselic, Paul (Cindy) Terselic, Barbara (Dr. Howard) Weber, Linda (Duane) Nolte, Annette Terselic (Dan Haegerl); stepgrandchildren, Michael (Laura) Terselic, Stephanie Terselic, Andrea, David, Rachel, Sarah and Michelle Weber, Angela Nolte (fiancé, Richard Pease), Anna, Erica and Jonathan Nolte, Rosemary, Nick, Eric and Elizabeth Haegerl; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gloria Steberl, Janet and Mario Aiello, Carol Leslie, Gloria (Paul) Mielke, Patricia Rosenberg; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and first wife, Marie, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earl; and sister, Betty (Chuck) Carlson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 12, 2011, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Ave., with Rev. Ronald J. Gramza officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Monday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:30 a.m.
