Roberta Jean Vanderhoef

Surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer, Roberta Jean Vanderhoef passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at her residence. Roberta was born in Racine, July 18, 1952, daughter of Willis F. and Ruth M. (Nee: Verbeten) Vanderhoef.

Roberta was a graduate of St. Rita’s Grade School and William Horlick High School “Class of 1972.” She was employed by Racine Screen for over twenty years and most recently at St. Rita C.A.R.E.S. She enjoyed being around children, especially her nieces and nephews. She was a longtime and active member of St. Rita Catholic Church and the Joyful Noise Choir. Roberta also belonged to the Brothertown Indian Nation and Circle C Camper Club. Very talented and artistic, Roberta enjoyed sewing, crafting, making beautiful Christmas ornaments, and was an avid doll collector. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her father, Willis; her sisters and brothers, RuthAnn Chernouski, Margaret (Dave) Johnson, William (Paulette) Vanderhoef Sr., Kathleen (Lawrence) Campeau, Daniel (Linda) Vanderhoef, Timothy (Barb) Vanderhoef, Richard (Linda) Vanderhoef, Michael Vanderhoef, Marian (Raymond) Fay, Elizabeth (Terry) Smith, Rosemarie Bark, Joseph (Janet) Vanderhoef, Theresa Smith, Jane (Dennis) Hardy, John Vanderhoef, Christine Mapel; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth; brothers-in-law, Jim Chernouski, William Bark; her niece, Mary Elizabeth; and great-niece, Catarina.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 17, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave., with Rev. Kevin Mullins OSA officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Memorials to St. Rita’s C.A.R.E.S., The American Cancer Society or to St. Rita Catholic Church have been suggested.
