Surrounded by her loving family, Dorothy M. Vollendorf, age 84, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan–All Saints Medical Center. Dorothy was born in Racine, April 4, 1927, daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Nee: Hartweg) Bauer.
On July 12, 1947, at St. Rose Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Francis J. Vollendorf, who preceded her in death on January 23, 2010. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella. Dorothy was employed as a waitress for many years at Kilbourn Gardens. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her children, Thomas (Carole) Vollendorf, Robert (Robin) Vollendorf, Mary Burza; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Aileen Heide and Louise Busarow; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Thomas Burza; and brother, Donald (Elaine) Bauer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Private interment will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday at church from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church have been suggested.
