James W. Mau

James W. Mau, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Lakeshore Manor surrounded by his family and friends. Jim was born on June 19, 1920, to John and Laru (nee: Call) Mau.

On June 22, 1946, Jim was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Wodicka. He graduated from Horlick High School in 1938. From 1938 to December 1942 he was an Apprentice Tool Maker at Massey Harris.

Jim enlisted in the United States Navy on January 1, 1943. While serving in the Navy in the Atlantic theatre aboard the aircraft carrier USS Guadalcanal as a machinist First Mate, he was involved in the capture of the German submarine U505 now on display at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry.

After the war, Jim went back to work for Massey Harris and then worked as a Plant Manager for Moxness Products in East Troy. He retired in 1985.

Jim is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Racine; his daughter, Sue Ellen (Larry) Rasch, Austin, MN;  his grandsons, Scott (Angela) Rasch, Racine, and Todd (Ellen) Rasch, Pewaukee; his great-grandchildren, Connor, Logan and Eden; his sister, Violet Klinkhammer; and other close family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Vernon 'Bud,' John 'Jack,' and Earl.

Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Robert Wang officiating. Entombment with full Military Honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park Garden Court Crypts. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be directed to Wisconsin Honor Flight.

Irene F. (Kralicek) Sisak

Irene F. Sisak, age 83, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan - All Saints Medical Center. Irene was born in Racine, August 23, 1927, daughter of the late Charles A. and Frances (Nee: Kuzelova) Kralicek.

Irene was a lifelong member at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church and on September 4, 1948, she was united in marriage to Wencel G. Sisak. While she was raising her family she was involved with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Irene’s pastimes included reading, sewing, knitting and baking. More than anything she cherished time with her family and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-two years, Wencel; her children, James R. Sisak of Mt. Pleasant, John W. (Kate) Sisak of Howell, MI, Joanne (William) Robertson of Racine, Jerold J. (Julie) Sisak of Racine; her two grandchildren, Matthew Sisak, Kathryn Sisak; brother, Charles Kralicek of NY; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Leo Ebinal of FL, Helen Urbush, Matthew Sisak, both of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Ebinal .

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 2, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St., with Rev. Stephen J. Stradinger officiating. Ralph E. Tomkiewicz M.D.

Ralph Eugene Tomkiewicz, M.D., was born at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on August 8, 1930, to Roman Tomkiewicz and Elise (Giguere) Tomkiewicz. He lived in Milwaukee for 21 years, in Racine for almost 50 years, and numerous places for his medical studies and military service obligations. He died June 27, 2011.

Graduate of Immaculate Conception Parish, and Bay View High School with honors, both in Milwaukee. Graduate of Marquette University in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Science and Philosophy, with honors. Naval Reserve Officer Training Candidate graduate in 1952, with service from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean War with additional time in Vietnam, in 1954. Achieved the rank of full lieutenant and served on both the U.S.S. Bayfield and the LST 822. Attended Marquette University School of Medicine from 1955 to 1959, graduating in 1959. Interned at Saint Charles Hospital, Toledo, Ohio, from June 1959 to June 1960, with residency in Psychiatry at Cleveland Psychiatric Institute, 1960 to 1963. Practiced psychiatry in Racine and Kenosha from June 1963 to 2005. Established the Psychiatric Unit at Kenosha’s Saint Catherine’s Hospital in 1964. Was on staff at Kenosha Memorial Hospital, Saint Mary’s and Saint Luke’s, both in Racine, in addition to staff at Carthage College.

Ralph was an avid runner and tennis player, achieving tennis rankings throughout 1965 to 2002 in both the Wisconsin Tennis Association and the Midwest region. His running accomplishments included completing marathons in Milwaukee and Chicago. Ralph was fond of classical music, literature and history. He and his wife, Rita, held season tickets to the Chicago Lyric Opera, Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Milwaukee Symphony and Milwaukee Florentine Opera for over 30 years. His favorite authors were John Steinbeck and Ernest Hemingway and his preferred composers were Chopin and Mahler.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Rita (Szrot) Tomkiewicz. They were married on August 13, 1955, with five children born over the next eight years: William, (wife Bonnie, daughters Anya and Perri), in Fairfax, California; Jane, (husband Ramon Echegaray, daughter, Elyse), in Brooklyn, New York; John, (“Jack,” wife Kris, sons Mark and John), Hartland, Wisconsin; Vincent, (wife Corinne Granof, daughter Hayley), Deerfield, Illinois; and, Joseph, currently, Lagos, Nigeria.

He will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends may meet the family at St. Richard’s Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Ave., Racine, for visitation on Friday, July 1, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30. Interment will be private.

Albert 'Buff' J. Gerardo

Albert “Buff” J. Gerardo, age 79, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011, at his residence. Al was born in Racine, June 7, 1932, son of the late Catarino and Juanita (Nee: Rodriguez) Gerardo.

Al graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1950.” During the Korean Conflict he served in the United States Army and was the proud recipient of the Bronze Star with Valor for his heroics on Porkchop Hill. On December 22, 1956, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Union Grove, he was united in marriage to JoNelle J. Navin. Al was employed with Pendleton Oldsmobile, later Gentile Oldsmobile for thirty-three years. He then worked with Careers for seven years, and was last working with the Milwaukee Metro Automobile Auction for the past twelve years. A good athlete, he enjoyed playing basketball, bowling, softball and coaching his children’s teams at St. John Nepomuk Catholic School and with Special Olympics. He was a member of the Catholic Men’s Association and volunteered with ARC. Above all he was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Kathleen 'Kathy' L. (Davison) Wernicke

Kathleen “Kathy” L. Wernicke, age 51, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, June 25, 2011. She was born in Chicago, IL, on August 12, 1959, daughter of Jack S. and Evelyn (Nee: Kostka) Davison and was a Racine area resident since she was the age of 1.

Kathy was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1977.” She was employed by Kohl’s Food Store on Durand for many years. She enjoyed reading and a good game of cribbage. Kathy always helped anyone in need no matter the cost to her and would always give those with hard times a roof over their head. Above all, she devoted and cherished time spent with her family. She will be deeply missed.

Lorraine Bernice Mokry

Lorraine B. (nee: Solfest) Mokry, 87, passed away on June 24, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints.

She was born on March 20, 1924, in Chimney Rock (Mondovi), to the late Benny and Mary (nee: Norby) Solfest. On September 19, 1945, immediately after his return home from WWII, she was united in marriage to the late Harold Mokry.

By 1950, the couple moved to Racine where they eventually became the owners of Arrow Carpet where Lorraine worked until her retirement in 1991.

Lorraine was very proud of her Associate in Accounting and often referred to it as her “mid-life degree.” She was a hardworking business woman who also deeply loved her family. She was known as an excellent entertainer and cook, and always hosted family events. She loved to knit and made baby caps for the hospital. She also enjoyed gambling and going to casinos both in Wisconsin and in Las Vegas. She was a life-long Lutheran, a charter member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, and also provided her children with the best gift of all: an introduction to the teachings of Christ.

Lorraine will be deeply missed by her three sons, Harold Michael (Sandra Chaignot) Mokry Jr., Daniel Bryn (Ann) Mokry, and Rev. Richard Bruce (Rev. Carol) Mokry; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four dear brothers; and three wonderful sisters and best friends. She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Sharon Mokry; one brother; and one sister.

Michael E. Howard

Michael E. Howard, age 49, died tragically Friday, June 24, 2011. Michael was born in Berwyn, IL, on December 5, 1961, son of Edmund M. and Virginia D. (Nee: Borowski) Howard.

He was a graduate of Washington Park High School and attended St. Lucy’s Grade School. Michael proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was last employed with Oak Creek Power Plant.

He will be dearly missed by his father, Edmund, and his brother, Thomas, both of Racine. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia, on January 30, 1997.

Margaret Henrietta Larsen

Mrs. Margaret H. (nee: Christensen) Larsen, 95, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011, at Lakeshore Manor.

Margaret was born in Racine to the late Christ and Sena (nee: Jensen) Christensen on November 15, 1915. She was united in marriage to Douglas Larsen in Racine on July 27, 1940. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2005.

Margaret will be dearly missed by her three children, Carol (Victor) Palmer of Bethesda, MD, Judith Larsen of Milwaukee, and Randall (Louise) Larsen of Racine; three grandchildren, Robin (James) Beckwith, Peter (Margaret) McChesney, Jr., and Savannah Larsen; five great-grandchildren, Mary (John) Moore, Amy (Brett) Rembold, Peter McChesney III, William McChesney, and Henry McChesney. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Private services in honor of Margaret were held. Entombment took place at Mound Cemetery.

Margot W. Strauss

Margot W. Strauss, 94, entered eternal life June 24, 2011, in Springdale AR. She was born April 18, 1917, in Racine, WI, to Henry and Margaret Geisler. She married Edward C. Strauss on September 13, 1941.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; a son, Dennis; three brothers and a sister. She is survived by two sons, Richard and Gordon, their families, extended family, relatives and friends.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband and son, in Calvary Cemetery, at a future date.

Lusia 'Lucy' Toni Sierra

Lusia Toni Sierra born in Chicago, April 30, 1947, daughter of the late Jesse and Anita (Nee: Villapando) Sierra and returned to God, Friday, June 24, 2011. She battled many years of diabetes and other illnesses. Her children were by her side until the very end. Lusia devoted her life to her family and especially enjoyed holidays, cookouts and bingo. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Lillian (Jamal) Martin, Danna Wendt (Paul Koons), Lisa (Alfredo) Bergeron, Laurie Okon (Ken Krug), Chris Sierra Sr., Adam Sierra, Richard (Jen) Okon Jr., Brittney Sierra; her grandchildren, Erykah Wilson, Chris Sierra Jr., Jessica and Anthony Vuco, Jacob Kenna, Naython, Jessica, and Rayond Bergeron, Justin Wendt, Brandon Cramer, Terry Thomas, Kaleb Wendt, James Spraggins, Logan Okon; great-granddaughter, Imayah Cramer; special friend, Richard Okon Sr.; lifetime puppy and friend, Oreo; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. She also leaves behind her extended family: the nurses and dialysis technicians who cared for her at the dialysis site. Glenn A. Knudsen

Glenn A. Knudsen, age 67, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011, and now is reunited with the love of his life, Jane E. Knudsen. She preceded him in death May 12, 2011.

Glenn was born in Racine, December 3, 1943, son of the late Einer and Margaret (Nee: Jenspy) Knudsen. Glenn was a 1962 graduate of Washington Park High School.

On August 15, 1970, Glenn was united in marriage to Jane E. Jorgensen. With their partners, Glenn and Jane owned and operated Parkside Produce stores in Racine and Kenosha for many years. Glenn was a Racine Alderman for several years before moving to North Bay. Glenn was a wine collector who also enjoyed gourmet cooking, world traveling, politics and attending Racine Symphony concerts.

With Jane, Glenn was a lifelong resident and generously supported many Racine charities with time and money. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his brother-in-law, Jim Jorgensen (Lisa Busby) of Palomar Park, CA; nephews and niece, Scott (Ronit) Jorgensen, Danny Jorgensen, Katie (Dan) Setterby and Cannon Bonar; other relatives and many dear friends.

Jasper P. Clemente

With his family by his side, Jasper P. Clemente, age 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Jasper was born in Akron, Ohio, October 8, 1927, son of the late Antonio and Caterina (Nee: Artale) Clemente.

Jasper graduated from North Hill High School in Akron, OH, and excelled in football as a standout running back. He then enlisted with the United States Navy where his career spanned from 1945 until 1968, retiring as Master Chief Petty Officer. In 1969 Jasper began employment with Western Publishing, retiring in 1985. On July 30, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Murline Mauk. A huge Ohio Buckeye fan, Jasper was ecstatic when Navy would beat Army in their annual football game. He was active in numerous senior golf leagues, and especially enjoyed golfing with his sons. He was very meticulous with yard work and loved traveling to Branson, Missouri, with his wife. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-six years, Murline; his children, Daniel (Mary) Clemente of Greenfield, WI, Catherine Clemente (fiancé, Mike Robinson) of Tomah, Dana Mikkelson (fiancee, Genevieve Rindfuss) of Deerbrook, WI; his nine grandchildren, Brian Clemente, Rachael Clemente, Joseph (Becki) Lamb, Jessica (Ryan) Shafer, Carrie (Donald) Selusnik, David (Angie) Gramza, Brett (Sayara) Mikkelson, Chely (Ted) Welch, Steffi Mikkelson (fiancé, Eric); nine great-grandchildren; brother, Bart (Carol) Clemente; sister, Pauline Snyder; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Paul Alan Lekas

Sturtevant -- Paul Alan Lekas, 81, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints. He was born in Holland, MI, on Jan. 22, 1930, to the late Peter and Maggie (nee: Kammeraad) Lekas. He lived most of his life in the Racine area. He was united in marriage to the former Marjorie J. Olson in Racine on Feb. 18, 1956. He was a parcel post handler at the State Street Post Office for about 30 years.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, lifetime member of the Elks Club, Moose Lodge and German Club. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, bowling and traveling. He was well known in the Racine community, where he loved socializing with family and friends.

Family meant so much to Paul. Even though he never had children of his own, he was very close to his nieces and nephews. With his wife, Marge, he attended many of their school functions and was especially proud of their musical talents. He never missed family times together.

He will be deeply missed by two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Lorraine Lekas, Mary (Norm) Johnson; six nieces and nephews, Diane (Jim) Haase, Gary (DeAnn) Lekas, John (Connie) Johnson, Rebecca Johnson (Lori Elkins), Nancy (Donald) Rice, Jackie (Larry) Curty, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; brother, Robert Lekas; sister and brother-in-law, Mary (Stephen) Olsen; nephews, Robert Lekas, Jr, Steven Olsen, Jr and Thomas Johnson.

John Walter Uick

John Walter Uick, 60, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints on Tuesday, June 21, 2011.

John was born in Racine to the late Walter and Sadie (nee: Reardon) Uick on August 9, 1950, and lived in Racine all his life. He was united in marriage to the former Karen Heffel on August 13, 1988. He was a machinist at Twin Disc for 24 years.

He was a caring and loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children, and would do anything for them. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, going up north, listening to music along with playing the organ and accordion. He enjoyed his work and was a hard worker. John had a good sense of humor and was a great prankster.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; four children, Andrew, Michael (Christina), Brian and Carolyn; one granddaughter, Chloe; four brothers, Jerry (Heidi), Jim, Tim (Dorreen), Dan (Brenda); nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

John Hercules Gliatas

Surrounded by his loving family, John H. Gliatas, age 86, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. He joined the love of his life, Minnie, with whom he shared fifty-two years of marriage. Throughout his lifetime, he struggled with numerous illnesses and fought his way back each time, living up to his middle name, “Hercules.” We called him our Energizer Bunny.

John was born in Racine, October 13, 1924, son of the late Hercules J. and Panagiota (Nee: Marcopoulos) Gliatas. He was a graduate of Park High School “Class of 1942” and furthered his education at the University of Madison, earning a business degree in June of 1950. John always said that he lived the American Dream and he proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. On August 7, 1948, John was united in marriage to Minnie DeLorenzo at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She preceded him in death, March 18, 2001.

Throughout his career John was employed by John Hancock as an Insurance agent and by Massey Ferguson for many years until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. John enjoyed gardening, Lucyniors, watching Sunday professional football games, especially the Green Bay Packers, family reunions, an occasional glass of Metaxa and above all, being with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather who lived for his family and was truly an inspiration to each of us. His kind and gentle spirit, as well as his sense of humor, will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Survivors include his five daughters, Barbara (Terry) Doebereiner of Racine, Linda (Noel) Dahlke of Union Grove, Diane (Dr. Richard) DeFurio, Patricia (Robert) Magruder, all of Racine, Kathleen (Les) Horvath of AZ; his thirteen grandchildren, Michael (Jaime) Doebereiner, Jenni (Scott) Kirn, Katie (Todd) Witek, Dan (Candie) Dahlke, Becky (Levi) Conley, Sarah (Matt) Blazek, Liz Dahlke, Gina (Dave) Schmitz, Katie DeFurio, Marie DeFurio, Dr. David DeFurio, Kayleen Magruder (fiancé, Ryan Moll), Kris Magruder; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (John) Gouris of Racine; brother, Themy H. Scott Chester Stone Sr.

On June 20, 2011, at the age of 84, Scott Chester Stone Sr. peacefully departed this world and went home to the Lord at Kenosha Medical Center. Scott was born on August 31, 1926, in Clinton, Louisiana, to the late Charlie P. and Viola Stone.

Scott attended St. Charles Catholic Church in Ferriday, LA, and later attended St. Rose Catholic Church in Racine, Wisconsin. Scott received his Bachelor of Science degree from Leland College, in Baker, Louisiana, in 1950. He taught high school sciences at Ferriday High School until 1953, when he left to serve in the Army during the Korean War. After the war he returned to teaching at Ferriday High School. He received his Master’s degree in Elementary and Secondary School Administration from Southern University with further studies at Grambling, Atlanta, Tuskegee, Alcorn and Mississippi State Universities.

In 1954, he met and married Marie A. Stewart. Five children were born of this union: Elyria Ann, DeEdra Lynn, Corliss Cassandra, Denessa Rene and the late Scott Chester Stone, Jr.

Scott taught Mathematics and Biology in the Louisiana school system for twenty-two years before moving to Racine, Wisconsin, where he continued his teaching career. Scott taught at J.I. Case High School in Racine until he retired in 1987.

Scott leaves to mourn, his devoted wife, Marie Stone; his daughters and sons-in-law, 13 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Scott’s generosity, tenacity, his captivating stories, and spirit were greatly loved and appreciated and will certainly be missed by all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Ave., with Rev. Ronald J. Gramza officiating. Elizabeth L. 'Betty' (Banker) Boutell

Elizabeth L. Boutell, “Betty,” age 96, passed away Monday, June 20, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. She was born in North Cape on October 14, 1914, daughter of the late William and Laura (Nee: Magnuson) Banker.

Betty graduated from Union Grove High School. On November 25, 1950, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church she was united in marriage to Harold S. Boutell, who preceded her in death December 22, 1996. Betty retired from Hamilton Beach Co. after over 30 years of employment. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and volunteered at the Lutheran High School Thrift Shop. With the loss of her eyesight, Betty enjoyed listening to audio books. She also enjoyed baseball, especially cheering on the Cubs. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her brother, Willard Banker of Racine; brothers-in-law, Bill and Don Boutell; nieces and nephew, Helen (Arthur) Keller, Douglas (Dolores) Just, Betty-Kay Schneider; great nieces and nephews; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathryn (Emil) Just; and her brother, Harold Banker.

Charles Wesley Odell

Charles Wesley Odell, age 85, beloved husband and devoted father and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011, at his residence. Charles served in World War II aboard a destroyer escort in the Aleutian Islands and Central Pacific.

He was employed by Western Publishing Company, Inc. for thirty-five years, last working as Corporate Manager of Administrative Services and retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Western Quarter-Century Club, and past president of the Western Foreman’s Club, and Milwaukee-Racine Club Printing House Craftsmen. Charles was board director of the Western Employee Credit Union for eighteen years.

He had been a volunteer for Junior Achievement. Charles was a twenty-year member of the YMCA, played golf with the Western team and was an avid photographer.

Charles is survived by his wife, Shirley, together for sixty-two years; his daughter, Susan (Kevin) Milaeger; and grandson, David Nels Milaeger; a sister-in-law and a nephew. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 22, 2011, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Memorials suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Dora Linda (Aviles) Perez

Dora L. Perez, age 45, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at her residence. Dora was born in Racine January 27, 1966, daughter of Arturo and Mary (nee: Rangel) Aviles.

She was united in marriage to Eric Perez on September 14, 1996, in Racine. Dora’s life revolved around her family, especially her children who she adored.

She will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Eric; her four children, David J. Aviles, Anthony M. White, Ericka M. Perez, Elysia Perez; her parents, Arturo and Mary Aviles Sr.; brothers, Arturo Aviles Jr, John Aviles; father-in-law and mother–in-law, Edward and Maria Perez; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Eric.

Thomas J. Kaiser

Thomas J. Kaiser, age 62, passed away Friday, June 17, 2011, with his family by his side. Thomas was born in Racine on January 24, 1949, son of the late John W. and Ruth M. (Nee: Reep) Kaiser.

Thomas graduated from Washington Park High School and furthered his education at Aurora University, IL, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Theology. He owned and operated Pyramid Publishing and was employed by Western Publishing for twenty-eight years. On May 23, 1981, he was united in marriage to Mary S. Bartosh at the First United Methodist Church. He served on the Aurora Board of Trustees from 1998 until 2004 and established the Kaiser Scholarship Fund.

Tom was a member of the “Waves” Dragon Boat team where he enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He was an avid biker and had a great passion for traveling. He especially treasured time spent as a part time chef at Timothy York’s Bistro. He was an avid promoter of the “DOO-Wop Diner Radio Show” where he was affectionately known as “Captain Tom.” He was loved dearly and will be sadly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; his children, Jack T. Kaiser and Joanna K. Kaiser, both of Racine; sister, Janet (Jim) Roselini of Racine; brother-in-law, Joseph, and sisters-in-law, Beth, Jane and Rebecca; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his in-laws, James and Ruth Bartosh.

Sister Clarice Mickey, O.P

Sister Clarice Mickey, O.P., 86, passed away at Lakeshore Manor, Racine, on Friday, June 17, 2011.

Grace Magdalen was born April 20, 1925, to Anthony B. and Amalia (nee: Schneider) Mickey in Madison, WI. On January 28, 1943, she joined the Racine Dominicans and at her reception in August 1943 she was given the religious name Sister Clarice. She professed her first vows in 1945 and her final vows in 1951.

Sister Clarice spent many years in service to others as a teacher and social worker. She began her ministry in 1944 at Holy Name, Racine, WI. Other places in Wisconsin where she served were Holy Cross, Kaukauna; Holy Angels and St. Benedict, Milwaukee; St. Rita, St. Patrick, St. Edward and Sacred Heart, Racine; SS. Peter and Paul, Green Bay; and St. Mary, Kansasville. After 30 years of teaching she worked at Lincoln Lutheran Home, Racine, as a social worker. She also served in Illinois, Michigan and New Mexico. She continued to do community service at Siena Center, Racine, after retiring from Lincoln Lutheran. At the beginning of this month she became a resident at Lakeshore Manor, Racine.

Sister Clarice is survived by the Racine Dominican Sisters and Associates; her brothers, William (Irene) and Nick (Donna); sister, Sue (Richard) Lerwick; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and her brothers, James, Thomas, Robert and Jack; sisters, Dorothy Vaughn, Jane Braun, Lorraine Sikorsky, Mary Margaret Lynaugh and Leone Mickey.

A Remembering Service will be in the Siena Center Chapel on Tuesday June 21, at 2:30 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 4 p.m. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy 32. Memorials to the Racine Dominican Mission Fund have been suggested.

Victoria Margaret Klein

Franksville – Ms. Victoria M. Klein passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints on June 17, 2011, after a long fought battle with breast cancer.

Victoria was born in Waukegan, IL, to William and Elizabeth (nee: Emery) Peterik on August 8, 1948. She lived in Racine all of her life.

Ms. Klein was employed by Boston Store for 10 years and was a fun and loving person to all.

Victoria is the wonderful mother of Troy (Jennifer) Lucas, Lori (Don) Stone, Kelli (Tom) Michels and Steven Klein; loving grandmother of Brandon, Morgan, Danika, Autumn, Jade, Sara and Zoe; and sister of Tom (Debbie) Peterik. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Dallas Miilu; her significant other, Tony Mielcarek; and her parents, William and Elizabeth.

Rachel Lee 'Big Rach' Tussler

Surrounded by the love of her family and friends, Rachel Lee Tussler, "Big Rach," age 47, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Ridgewood Care Center. Rachel was born in Racine on December 12, 1963, daughter of the late Charles H. and Stella A. (Nee: Sweeti) Tussler.

Rachel grew up in Sturtevant where she was outgoing and befriended all those who met her. She was a member of St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church. She attended St. Rose and Olympia Brown Grade Schools. Rachel enjoyed dancing, playing ball, cards, cheering on the Cubs and Packers, going with her sister Renee to shoot pool and bowl and babysitting for her nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her good natured spirit and her infectious smile. She will be dearly missed.

Dara D. (Day) Valade

Dara D. Valade, age 84, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Dara was born in Melvin, IL, on October 6, 1926, and had been a resident of Racine since 1966.

Mrs. Valade was united in marriage to William R. Valade in Kankakee, IL, on September 10, 1955. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1987. Also preceding her in death were her parents; sisters, Gayle Meyer and Wanda Day; and a granddaughter, Jessica LeRett.

The Valades along with their family owned and operated Beltone Hearing Aid Service of Racine and Kenosha since 1966. After her husband’s death, Mrs. Valade continued to develop and enhance the business until her retirement in 1998. The company is still held in family hands.

Mrs. Valade was actively involved in community and business organizations in Racine including the Racine Area Manufacture and Commerce and was chairman of the Chamber Division in 1997-1998. She also served on their Police and Fire Committee and as a Racine Area Ambassador. She served on the Board of Directors of the following civic or service organizations: Downtown Rotary Club, Racine United Way, Private Industry Council of Southeastern Wisconsin, Racine Youthful Offender Correctional Facility Community Relations Board, Crime Stoppers and the Sheriffs Citizen Advisory Board. Mrs. Valade was honored to be elected the first woman president of Northside Business and Professional Club. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and also Meadowbrook Country Club.

Survivors include her sons, John Leyendecker, Vance Valade and Mark Valade; her daughters, Valerie Klinkhammer and Julie (John) Dykstra; eight grandchildren; other relatives and many dear friends.

It was Mrs. Valade’s wish to hold private funeral services for her family, only. She cared dearly for her friends and business associates but wishes to be remembered as she was. Entombment will be held at Calvary Garden Crypts. Memorial remembrances can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Stanley M. Zdziarski

Stanley M. Zdziarski, age 89, passed away Monday, June 13, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Stanley was born in Wausakee, WI, August 24, 1921, son of the late John and Mary (Nee: Sak) Zdziarski.

During World War II, Stan proudly served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army Air Corps 11th Airborne Division while stationed in Japan. On May 1, 1954, at St. Edward Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to Jean France. They owned and operated Stan’s Trucking Inc., working with Payne and Dolan and A.W. Oakes, for thirty-five years, retiring in 1986. An experienced driver, Stan previously had driven semi-trucks, dump trucks and buses. He was also a lumberjack, served as caretaker of the Trefoil Oaks Camp, and was a longtime volunteer with the Girl Scouts. Stan was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed bowling with the Wergeland League for many years. Stan was a good neighbor who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his loving wife, Jean, of fifty-seven years; sisters, Helen Sobczak of Chicago, IL, Florence (Andrew) Thames of Midland, TX, Frances Citterman of Mundelein, IL; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou France of Racine, Nancy France of Denver, CO, Angie France of Racine; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Daniel 'Don' Lincoln Placko

Daniel L. Placko, 89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 13, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints.

Don was born in Racine to Michael and Katherine (nee: Suposi) Placko on October 8, 1921. He lived in Racine most of his life. In Langley, Virginia, he was united in marriage to Marion Odders on January 26, 1945.

Don met his wife Marion after they attended Park High School. Their first date was a round of golf, a sport they enjoyed playing and watching throughout their life together. After attending Wheaton College for one year Don entered the military to serve his country. During training, Don and Marion were married on the air base in Langley, Virginia, in 1945. Don learned how to fly B-24 airplanes and served actively in the Pacific theater. He was one of the first pilots to fly with radar equipped “ships” as he called them, learning to use that equipment at Langley. He retired from the service as a First Lieutenant with an Honorable Discharge.

After military service he was employed at Massey Harris for many years before joining Color Arts. Don served as President of Color Arts from 1967 through 1983. He assembled a team of owners and they purchased the company from the Heestan family. Although Mrs. Heestan had better offers from other businessmen, she trusted Don and worked out a deal that would allow him to purchase the company with his partners.

Together, Don and Marion most recently attended Calvary Memorial Church. Previously, they were longtime members of Fellowship Baptist Church, where Don sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and started a Super Senior ministry in 1985. For ten years he was dedicated to his group of “Seniors,” which included many people from multiple denominations outside of his church. Don made all feel welcome. He often brought in special talent and music for his “Seniors,” taking great joy in their happiness. He always took the time to share his faith, and the good news of His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As time went on, the group grew to over one hundred people.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Marion; his daughter, Karen (Mark) Bollmeier; four grandchildren, Emily (Kevin) Bridleman, Andrew (Kim) Bollmeier, Leah Bollmeier, and Aaron Bollmeier; two great grandchildren, Isabelle Bridleman and Karis Bridleman; a sister, Helen Robinson; and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Katherine; his brothers, Mike (Lorraine) and Steve, and a sister Anne (Karl) Andresen; and brother-in-law Wendell Robinson.

Don loved his Lord, his family, his country and his fellow believers. He was kind to everyone that he came in contact with. He was a good golfer, tennis player and loved to drive. He will be missed by many.

Funeral services for Don will be held at Calvary Memorial Church, 4000 Washington Ave., on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Nathan James officiating. Claire M. (Nelson) Gautsch

Surrounded by the love of her family, Claire M. Gautsch, a twenty-one year cancer survivor, age 75, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan–All Saints Medical Center. Claire was born in Superior, WI, on June 30, 1935, daughter of the late Clarence and Dallas (Nee: Coyne) Nelson and has been a resident of Racine since 1963.

Claire worked at Lincoln Lutheran Home for twenty-seven years, and retired from Rainfair after thirty years of employment. She was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church and belonged the Lincoln Lutheran “20 Year Club.” Claire enjoyed rummaging, knitting, singing, cooking, and was a huge Green Bay Packer fan.

Survivors include her four children, Terry Gautsch of Racine, Ann Gautsch of Manitowoc, Vickie Hackman, David Gautsch, both of Racine; four grandchildren, Kristina, Sarah, Benjamin and Bradlee; three great-grandchildren, Antwaun, Aireanna and Ajhia; brothers and sisters, Alice (Fred) Lere, Charles (Katie) Nelson, Gwen (Jim) Larson, Richard (Barbara) Nelson, Sharon (Thomas) Pawlikowski; cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Glenn Gautsch.

Clarence 'Bud' R. Petersen

Clarence “Bud” R. Petersen passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 11, 2011, after a battle with brain cancer. A lifetime resident of Racine, Bud was born on July 21, 1925, to the late Elmer and Celia (Nee: Flanigan) Petersen.

Bud graduated from William Horlick High School “Class of 1943.” He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. On January 29, 1945, he married Elaine Rasmussen; they remained married until 1970. He was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church.

Bud was employed by MD Blower for seventeen years and J.I. Case for twenty years, retiring in 1985. After retiring, Bud spent many years as a volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital. Honored by St. Luke’s for his dedication, attitude and enthusiasm, Bud was named Senior Citizen of the Day twice, once in 1997 and again in 2000. Bud was an avid reader, enjoyed playing schafskopf, had a passion for travel and enjoyed life to the fullest. Loyal and devoted, Bud will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

Nancy Rae Neill

Nancy Rae Neill, 69, died on Friday, June 10, 2011, at Hospice Alliance in Kenosha, WI., after a brief battle with cancer.

She was born on January 18, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA. Nancy graduated from Horton Watkins High School in Ladue, MO. She received her B.A. from Park College in Parkville, MO, and a Master of Education from the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO. She also received a Certificate of Advanced Study in Reading, Language and Disabilities from Harvard University, Boston, MA, in 1988.

Nancy was passionate about education. She began as an elementary classroom teacher in 1963 and after many promotions became in 1988 the Director of Reading and Language Arts, grades K-6, for the Racine Unified School District, from which she retired in 2002. She was past president of the Racine Association of Childhood Education, of the local chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Women Educators, and of the Racine/Kenosha Reading Council. She was also a member of the Wisconsin State Reading Association and the International Reading Association.

Nancy was a faith-filled and devoted member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Racine, WI, where she was also an elder. On the mission committee, she reached out to others in need in her community and the world. A life-long learner, she always participated in Bible and book groups. She also studied at the Holy Wisdom Monastery in Madison, WI where she became a Benedictine oblate in April 2011.

She will be missed for her deep compassion, her keen mind and her generous spirit. She was fun, strong, witty, independent and tender-hearted. She lived in love and laughter.

Nancy is survived by her sister, Kathy (Doug) Kirchner; and nephews David (Kim), Daniel (Linda) and James ( Kathy), all in Minnesota; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews. She is also survived by many friends and her Covenant church family. She was preceded in death by her parents, The Reverend James and Mary Neill.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 40 Ohio St., Racine, WI, with Pastor Melanie Hammond Clark, Pastor Victoria Millar and Pastor Mary Steege officiating. A visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the church until the service time. Inurnment will be in Minnesota at a later date. Lavern Elaine (Williams) Humphrey

Lavern Elaine (nee: Williams) Humphrey, 81, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on June 10, 2011, after a three-month battle with cancer.

Lavern was born in Poplar Bluff, MO, on May 24, 1930, to Vernon and Emma (nee: McKim) Williams. Her treasured childhood years were spent in DeKalb, IL. She graduated from Belleville, IL, Township High School in 1948 and after attending community college in Belleville and teaching for a year in a rural school, she graduated in 1953 with a bachelor of science degree in Education from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL.

After graduation she moved to Racine to begin her teaching career, a decision based on the school district's excellent reputation and the city's close proximity to the cultural attractions in Chicago and Milwaukee.

While furthering her education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison during the summer of 1956, Lavern met William Glynn Humphrey, also a Racine teacher taking summer classes. The couple married on December 28, 1956, at the Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church in Belleville, IL, and made their home in Racine.

Lavern worked as a first grade teacher at Roosevelt Elementary School until the birth of her first child. She was a proud homemaker during her three children's formative years and later resumed her career in education as an aide for the school district's Psychology Department. She then took graduate classes to become certified as a teacher of English as a Second Language and concluded her career in the school district's ESL Department.

During their retirement years, Lavern and Glynn enjoyed traveling, including cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii and Mexico, as well as trips throughout the United States and a trip to Wales, UK. The couple celebrated 52 years of marriage before Glynn's death in 2009.

She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, loved reading poetry, enjoyed golf and music, was a do-it-yourselfer and passionately supported the pursuits of her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Lavern was preceded in death by her parents; and her sisters, Mary Evelyn Oney and Mary Lee Noltkamper.

Lavern is survived by her brother, Duane (Joyce) Williams of Jonesboro, AR,; daughter Katie (Carl) Matteson of East Troy; sons Steve (Mary Krigbaum) of Sammamish, WA, and Greg (Liz) Humphrey of Racine; grandchildren, Meghan, Tyler, Rebecca, Kimberly, Emily, Ellen, Kristen and Rachel; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 40 Ohio St., with the Rev. Melanie Hammond Clark and the Rev. Victoria Millar officiating. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main St., and Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service time. Alice Marie Morin

Sturtevant -- Mrs. Alice Marie Morin, 96, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints. She was born in Racine on Aug. 11, 1914, to the late Alfons and Hedwig Dobrowolski. She lived in Racine her whole life. In 1939 she was united in marriage to Silas Morin. She was employed at St. Mary's Hospital for 15 years.

She was a member of St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church. She loved to crotchet and was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers. She cared deeply for her family and friends.

She is survived by two sons, Terrance (Mary) Morin and Eugene (Gloria) Morin; seventeen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Marilyn and Lois; and two sons, Howard and Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church, 3030 95th St., on Monday, June 13, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Paul Raczynski officiating. Private entombment will be held. Friends may meet with the family at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Virginia Gertrude (Lusche) Lesko

Virginia Gertrude Lesko (Nee: Lusche), born October 8, 1915, to Luise Hutt Lusche and Herman Lusche in Evanston, IL, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at her residence. The cause of death was heart failure. She was 95.

She married John S. Lesko on April 29, 1939. He died in 1992. She worked as a dental assistant and later in the registration office at Gateway Technical Institute. Virginia enjoyed traveling, good food, talking with friends and family, Broadway musicals and reading. Since 2005 she lived at The Atrium/Bay Pointe, where she had many friends. She will be missed for her sense of humor and her interesting conversation.

She is survived by a son, John S. Lesko, of Blufton, SC; a daughter, Nancy Lesko, of New York City; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Fadley, of Columbus, OH, and Michelle Fick, of Minneapolis, MN; and two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Kolten.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday, June 13, 2011, at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Terry Peterson officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Barbara A. (Svitavsky) Schaub

Barbara A. Schaub, age 73, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Barbara was born in Racine on January 20, 1938, daughter of the late Anna (Nee: Kasala) and Vincent Svitavsky and was a lifelong resident of Racine.

On February 11, 1961, at St Jerome Catholic Church in Anaheim, California, she was united in marriage to Philip V. Schaub. Barbara was employed by Racine County Public Works in Ives Grove for many years, retiring in 2003. She previously worked at Twin Disc. Barbara was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and member and secretary of Racine Chorale. She enjoyed collecting, traveling to Europe and Australia, and loved singing. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of fifty years, Philip; her daughter, Ann Marie Schaub of Aurora, IL; her sisters and brother, Carol Ferguson of Tuscan, AZ, Dolores (Jack) Farmer of Washington, Ellen Flores of Madera, CA, Jeffrey (Linda) Svitavsky of Riverside, CA, Theresa (Gregory) Cox of Illinois, Heather (Ismail) Sanchez of San Diego, CA; brother-in-law, Joseph Schaub of Racine, Dorthea Carpino of Sturtevant; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Ann Marie Smith

Mrs. Ann Marie (nee: Kapudjya) Smith, passed away on Tuesday June 7, 2011, at her residence.

Ann was born to the late Julius and Maxine (nee: Laskovich) Kapudjya and lived her entire life in Racine. She was united in marriage to William R. Smith at Holy Name Church on June 9, 1972. Ann had been employed at Rainfair for 44 ½ years before her retirement in October of 1987.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, and bingo.

Ann will be dearly missed by her husband Wm. R. Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews including a special niece, Lynn Harris. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lillian M. Demarco; brothers, Nick F. Kappa and Louis V. Kappa; brother-in-law Richard P. Smith; and sisters-in-law, Sandra L. Smith and Patricia R. Oley.

Kathryn Jeanette (Selear) DeDeyne

Kathryn Jeanette DeDeyne, age 81, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, June 6, 2011. Kathryn was born September 17, 1928, in Kenosha County to Joseph and Elizabeth (Nee: Friedoff) Selear.

She attended local Kenosha County schools and graduated from Wilmot High School. On May 17, 1952, she married Henry DeDeyne of Racine where they resided for many years. Kathryn was employed by Western Printing until its closing and then by Michaels Machine until her retirement. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and the church choir for fifty years. For many years Kathryn and Henry would work St. Rita Festivals and she also belonged to St. Rita Augustinian Third Order. She volunteered at the Hawthorne Hollow Wildlife Preserve. Kathryn was a loyal Cub and Packer fan. She was well known for her famous breads, pies, her devotion to God and her church St. Rita’s.

Kathryn is survived by two loving sisters, Josephine Worrall of New Jersey, Madeline “Maddy” Moyer of Kenosha; her loving niece, Marcia (Jeffrey) Techert of Kenosha; great-niece, Elizabeth Kathryn Techert; great-nephew, Brian J. Techert; and many other nieces, nephews in Kenosha; her special loving family, Mark and Barbara Schmitz, Chris and Tammy Schmitz, Chris and Charlyne (Schmitz) Straka, and Chad Schmitz. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers and one sister.

Margaret 'Maggie' (Tobin) Nelson

Surrounded by her loving family, Margaret “Maggie” Nelson, age 83, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011, at her residence. Margaret was born in Burlington, WI, on October 14, 1927, daughter of the late Frank and Emma (Nee: Zwiebel) Tobin.

Margaret was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Burlington and furthered her education at St. Teresa College in Winona, Minnesota. She worked as a radiation technician for several years at Columbia Hospital, Milwaukee. On July 15, 1950, at St. Charles Church in Burlington she was united in marriage to Dr. Marvin W. Nelson. Currently she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In her earlier years Margaret taught C.C.D. and confirmation classes.

She belonged to the Racine Country Club and was actively involved with several organizations including: Junior League of Racine, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Friends of St. Catherine’s, St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary, Wisconsin State Medical Society Auxiliary, YWCA Festival of Lights, Prairie Auction, and the Racine Children’s Theater. Margaret volunteered for many years with the Racine Zoological Society flower planting and served on the board at the YWCA. She enjoyed playing tennis, golfing, swimming, downhill skiing and aquacising. More than anything she cherished time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

Marian L. (Baumgardt) Beres

Marian L. Beres, age 95, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center. Marian was born in Racine, June 8, 1915, daughter of the late Gustav and Mary (Nee: Stratman) Baumgardt.

On May 4, 1940, she was united in marriage to John C. Beres who preceded her in death in 1998. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and also very involved with Christian Mothers. In her younger years Marian was employed at Zahn’s Department Store. She was also a scout leader for many years and enjoyed time with various card clubs. More than anything she loved being a mom raising her family. She will be deeply missed.

Jeanette Hoppe

Mrs. Jeanette Hoppe, 96, passed away at Ridgewood Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center on June 4, 2011.

Jeanette was born in Buffalo Springs, ND, to the late John and Marie (nee: Martinsen) Dahl on September 8, 1914. She lived most of her life in Racine. In Racine, she was united in marriage to Adolph Hoppe on September 7, 1935.

Jeanette was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran church. She was an avid knitter and loved to teach both knitting and crochet. Most of all she was a very thoughtful person. She put others' needs before hers and was always there for her family.

Jeanette is survived by one son, Dennis Hoppe; a very close niece, Karen (Guy) Wells; and other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph; two brothers; five sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Ruth Hoppe.

Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at 5 p.m. with Rev. Cashius Myers officiating. Beatrice 'Bea' E. (Warren) Mahaffy

Beatrice E. Mahaffy, “Bea,” age 86, passed away Friday, June 3, 2011, at her residence. She was born in Hurley, WI, on July 20, 1924, daughter of the late Harold and Jennie (Nee: Nygaard) Warren.

At the age of 17 Bea moved to Racine. She worked at Young Radiator where she met Kenneth C. Mahaffy and on August 2, 1947, they were married at Plymouth Congregational Church. After raising her family, Bea worked at Meadowbrook Country Club as a waitress for a number of years. She was an active member of Plymouth Congregational Church and a member of the United Commercial Travelers. Bea treasured time spent with her lady friends in various bridge clubs, as well as the wonderful friendships she made over the years meeting for breakfast at Douglas Diner, Friday lunches, and evenings at McDonald’s. Bea was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her daughter, Nancy (Richard) Kinkade; grandchildren, Kyle and Kristin, all of Racine; sisters-in-law, Peg Warren of Atlanta, GA, Marion Mahaffy of Kenosha; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Kathleen Mahaffy; a sister, Gladys Banfield; and two brothers, Robert and Scott Warren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church, 1143 College Ave., with Reverend Glenn Lawson officiating. Interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet Thursday at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. and Friday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Memorials to Plymouth Congregational Church have been suggested.
