Surrounded by the love of her family, Claire M. Gautsch, a twenty-one year cancer survivor, age 75, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan–All Saints Medical Center. Claire was born in Superior, WI, on June 30, 1935, daughter of the late Clarence and Dallas (Nee: Coyne) Nelson and has been a resident of Racine since 1963.
Claire worked at Lincoln Lutheran Home for twenty-seven years, and retired from Rainfair after thirty years of employment. She was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church and belonged the Lincoln Lutheran “20 Year Club.” Claire enjoyed rummaging, knitting, singing, cooking, and was a huge Green Bay Packer fan.
Survivors include her four children, Terry Gautsch of Racine, Ann Gautsch of Manitowoc, Vickie Hackman, David Gautsch, both of Racine; four grandchildren, Kristina, Sarah, Benjamin and Bradlee; three great-grandchildren, Antwaun, Aireanna and Ajhia; brothers and sisters, Alice (Fred) Lere, Charles (Katie) Nelson, Gwen (Jim) Larson, Richard (Barbara) Nelson, Sharon (Thomas) Pawlikowski; cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Glenn Gautsch.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 16, 2011, at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Ray Christensen officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m.
