With his family by his side, Jasper P. Clemente, age 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Jasper was born in Akron, Ohio, October 8, 1927, son of the late Antonio and Caterina (Nee: Artale) Clemente.
Jasper graduated from North Hill High School in Akron, OH, and excelled in football as a standout running back. He then enlisted with the United States Navy where his career spanned from 1945 until 1968, retiring as Master Chief Petty Officer. In 1969 Jasper began employment with Western Publishing, retiring in 1985. On July 30, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Murline Mauk. A huge Ohio Buckeye fan, Jasper was ecstatic when Navy would beat Army in their annual football game. He was active in numerous senior golf leagues, and especially enjoyed golfing with his sons. He was very meticulous with yard work and loved traveling to Branson, Missouri, with his wife. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-six years, Murline; his children, Daniel (Mary) Clemente of Greenfield, WI, Catherine Clemente (fiancé, Mike Robinson) of Tomah, Dana Mikkelson (fiancee, Genevieve Rindfuss) of Deerbrook, WI; his nine grandchildren, Brian Clemente, Rachael Clemente, Joseph (Becki) Lamb, Jessica (Ryan) Shafer, Carrie (Donald) Selusnik, David (Angie) Gramza, Brett (Sayara) Mikkelson, Chely (Ted) Welch, Steffi Mikkelson (fiancé, Eric); nine great-grandchildren; brother, Bart (Carol) Clemente; sister, Pauline Snyder; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David; and sister, Toni Ginnetti.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 27, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment with full military honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m.
