Barbara A. (Svitavsky) Schaub

Barbara A. Schaub, age 73, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Barbara was born in Racine on January 20, 1938, daughter of the late Anna (Nee: Kasala) and Vincent Svitavsky and was a lifelong resident of Racine.

On February 11, 1961, at St Jerome Catholic Church in Anaheim, California, she was united in marriage to Philip V. Schaub. Barbara was employed by Racine County Public Works in Ives Grove for many years, retiring in 2003. She previously worked at Twin Disc. Barbara was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and member and secretary of Racine Chorale. She enjoyed collecting, traveling to Europe and Australia, and loved singing. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of fifty years, Philip; her daughter, Ann Marie Schaub of Aurora, IL; her sisters and brother, Carol Ferguson of Tuscan, AZ, Dolores (Jack) Farmer of Washington, Ellen Flores of Madera, CA, Jeffrey (Linda) Svitavsky of Riverside, CA, Theresa (Gregory) Cox of Illinois, Heather (Ismail) Sanchez of San Diego, CA; brother-in-law, Joseph Schaub of Racine, Dorthea Carpino of Sturtevant; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Vincent (Sharon) Svitavsky.

Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3100-95th St., Sturtevant, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. At 5 p.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Paul Raczynski officiating. Interment will be held Monday at Calvary Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Memorials to St. Sebastian Catholic Church have been suggested.
