Charles Wesley Odell, age 85, beloved husband and devoted father and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011, at his residence. Charles served in World War II aboard a destroyer escort in the Aleutian Islands and Central Pacific.
He was employed by Western Publishing Company, Inc. for thirty-five years, last working as Corporate Manager of Administrative Services and retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Western Quarter-Century Club, and past president of the Western Foreman’s Club, and Milwaukee-Racine Club Printing House Craftsmen. Charles was board director of the Western Employee Credit Union for eighteen years.
He had been a volunteer for Junior Achievement. Charles was a twenty-year member of the YMCA, played golf with the Western team and was an avid photographer.
Charles is survived by his wife, Shirley, together for sixty-two years; his daughter, Susan (Kevin) Milaeger; and grandson, David Nels Milaeger; a sister-in-law and a nephew. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 22, 2011, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Memorials suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
