Kathryn Jeanette (Selear) DeDeyne

Kathryn Jeanette DeDeyne, age 81, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, June 6, 2011. Kathryn was born September 17, 1928, in Kenosha County to Joseph and Elizabeth (Nee: Friedoff) Selear.

She attended local Kenosha County schools and graduated from Wilmot High School. On May 17, 1952, she married Henry DeDeyne of Racine where they resided for many years. Kathryn was employed by Western Printing until its closing and then by Michaels Machine until her retirement. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and the church choir for fifty years. For many years Kathryn and Henry would work St. Rita Festivals and she also belonged to St. Rita Augustinian Third Order. She volunteered at the Hawthorne Hollow Wildlife Preserve. Kathryn was a loyal Cub and Packer fan. She was well known for her famous breads, pies, her devotion to God and her church St. Rita’s.

Kathryn is survived by two loving sisters, Josephine Worrall of New Jersey, Madeline “Maddy” Moyer of Kenosha; her loving niece, Marcia (Jeffrey) Techert of Kenosha; great-niece, Elizabeth Kathryn Techert; great-nephew, Brian J. Techert; and many other nieces, nephews in Kenosha; her special loving family, Mark and Barbara Schmitz, Chris and Tammy Schmitz, Chris and Charlyne (Schmitz) Straka, and Chad Schmitz. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers and one sister.

A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, June 9, 2011, at 7 p.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave., with Rev. Jack Flynn officiating. Private interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 5 p.m. until time of Mass at 7 p.m.
