Dorothy Mae (Linstroth) Michael

Surrounded by her loving family, Dorothy M. Michael, age 93, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011, in her home that she loved. Dorothy was born in Racine, July 29, 1918, daughter of the late Frederick H. and Caroline (Nee: Franke) Linstroth.

On October 26, 1940, at the First United Methodist Church in Racine, Dorothy was united in marriage to Philip Michael Jr., who preceded her in death on December 14, 2000. In her early years Dorothy was employed at Hamilton Beach and later served as Treasurer for the Village of Mount Pleasant for eighteen years until her retirement in 1983. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Dorothy enjoyed playing cards and was an avid bowler who enjoyed bowling in various leagues in Racine and Sturtevant for a span of fifty years. She was a true Brewer and Packer fan, cheering until the end. Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Richard (Beth) Michael of Racine; three daughters, Judith (John) Kara, Carol (Pete) Feest, both of Racine, Kathleen (Phil) Westrich of Niagara, WI; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren with two more due in spring; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold (Thelma) Michael of Texas, Raymond Alley of California; special nephew, Jeffrey (Debbie) Sherman of Kenosha; other nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth (Louis) Sherman.

Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 745 Main St., Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Brad Van Fossen officiating. Interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the First United Methodist Church Camp Scholarship Fund have been suggested.

The family extends a special thank you to Bill and Barb Garibay, caregivers supreme, for their awesome care given to Mom.
