Patricia A. (Dahl) Serpe

Patricia A. Serpe, age 67, passed away early Saturday morning November 26, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center following a four-year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Patricia was born in Racine on October 12, 1944, daughter of the late Norman and Grace (nee: O’Day) Dahl and had been a lifelong resident.

Pat attended St. Joseph’s grade school, Washington Junior High School and graduated from William Horlick High School “Class of 1963.” She was employed with Racine County Human Services Department for over twenty years until her retirement in 2004. During that time she was an active volunteer with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program. Pat was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, and volunteered with their Salvation Army Meal Program. She enjoyed baking, cooking and crocheting and sharing her treats with coworkers, neighbors and friends. Pat will be fondly remembered for her hospitality to all of the neighborhood children and to all of her children’s friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Mark A. Serpe, Todd A. Serpe and Kimberly A. Serpe (Jeffrey) Stauber; daughter-in-law, Rochelle Schuster; eleven grandchildren, Anthony and Dylan, Ryan, and Zachary, Courtney, Nicole, Jamie, Cassidy, and Adrian “AJ,” Michael and Justin; brothers, John Dahl and David Dahl; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Scott Patrick Serpe.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St., on Thursday, December 1, 2011, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Memorials to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 or to Big Brothers/Big Sisters have been suggested.

The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Michael Mullane, Dr. Mahmood Shaikh, Dr. Deshur and their respective staffs, and to Pat’s extraordinary group of friends for all of their support and care.
