Elaine C. Wishau

Elaine C. Wishau, 88 passed away on October 14, 2013, at Clare Bridge Assisted Living Center in Kenosha.  Elaine was born on June 22, 1925, to the late Arkley “Bud” and Esther (nee:  Kasper) Wishau.

Elaine spent her entire life caring for the Wishau family home, on Lighthouse Drive, in Wind Point.  While she never married or had children of her own, she was a beloved aunt to her many nieces and nephews and their children throughout their lives.  Her door was always open; there was a fresh pot of coffee and something wonderful baking in the oven without fail.  Elaine loved to entertain with her family and friends. You could always count on her to host the most delicious Sunday dinners; and if you stopped by on a random week night, she was always prepared. The holidays were especially warm and wonderful with her at the helm.  She had a passion for gardening and shared her vast knowledge of horticulture at Milaeger’s for many years; she loved the Chicago Cubs, and was a lifetime member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.  Elaine was a master negotiator at estate sales and had a beautiful collection of antique furniture and housewares.  She was a very thoughtful and kind lady with a nurturing spirit, but wasn’t afraid to speak her mind when challenged.  She will be dearly missed.

Elaine is survived by her brothers, John (Gene) Wishau and Bill (Marilyn) Wishau; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Wishau; brother-in-law, Oscar “Jerry” Franseen, and many dear cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Arkley “Bud” Jr. and David (Betty Jane) Wishau; sisters, Elizabeth “Betty”(Amos) Larsen and Hazel Franseen, and life-long family friend, Walter Wright.

Private funeral services were held.  Memorials to the First Baptist Church, 3117 Lathrop Avenue, Racine, WI 53405 or to Hospice Alliance Inc., 10220 Prairie Ridge Boulevard, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158 have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at Clare Bridge and Alliance Hospice Care.
